Mission
TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES BY DISMANTLING THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND ECONOMIC BARRIERS THAT HOLD MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES BACK FROM THRIVING. WE BUILD THE CAPACITIES OF COMMUNITIES TO FIND HOMEGROWN SOLUTIONS TO POVERTY, HUNGER, AND CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE, ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, CLEAN WATER, AND CLEAN COOKING TECHNOLOGIES. WE ALSO LINK COMMUNITIES TO RESOURCES SUCH AS AGRICULTURAL INPUTS, FINANCE, AND MARKETS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
Program accomplishments
- EXPANDING COMMUNITY ACCESS TO AGRICULTURAL INPUTS, INCLUDING SEEDS, FERTILIZER, FINANCING, AND MARKETS. WE CURRENTLY SERVE MORE THAN 32,000 SMALLHOLDER FARMERS EVERY PLANTING SEASON, CONNECTING THEM TO CERTIFIED AGRICULTURAL INPUTS TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY AND FARM PROFITABILITY WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY FOSTERING FOOD SECURITY. ACCESS TO AGRICULTURAL INPUTS IS BUNDLED WITH AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND ADVISORY SERVICES TO FOSTER COMMUNITY RESILIENCE TO CLIMATE CHANGE. THIS PROJECT HAS INCREASED FOOD SECURITY IN MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES BY 30% WHILE BUILDING THE SELF-CONFIDENCE OF WOMEN, GIRLS, AND YOUTH TO ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN ECONOMIC DECISIONS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP. IT HAS ALSO PROMOTED COMMUNITY GENDER EQUALITY BY GIVING WOMEN A VOICE TO ENGAGE IN HOUSEHOLD DECISIONS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN GENERAL.Expenses $95,306
- YOUTH AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FOR CLIMATE ACTION WAS IMPLEMENTED TO COLLECT STORIES OF THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN COMMUNITIES TO HUMANIZE THE CLIMATE CRISIS AND INSPIRE ACTION FROM LOCAL TO GLOBAL LEVELS. THE PROJECT ALSO INCLUDED ESTABLISHING COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL FORUMS TO BRING COMMUNITY MEMBERS TOGETHER TO DISCUSS THEIR CLIMATE-RELATED CHALLENGES AND INSPIRE A GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT FOR CLIMATE ACTION. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE PROJECT TRAINED 100 YOUNG PEOPLE AND WOMEN IN THE COMMUNITY AS COMMUNITY YOUTH CLIMATE AMBASSADORS TO SPEARHEAD THE CLIMATE CONVERSATIONS, ADVOCATE FOR THE RIGHTS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND BRIDGE THE GAP WITH POLICYMAKERS. THIS PROJECT HAS INCREASED THE NUMBER OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES CURRENTLY SPEARHEADING CLIMATE CONVERSATIONS AT THE LOCAL LEVEL BY LEVERAGING LOCAL RESOURCES TO BUILD RESILIENCE. IT HAS ALSO INCREASED COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS ON THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC FABRICS OF THE SOCIETY. THIS HAS EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES TO TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE USING THEIR LOCAL RESOURCES WHILE ENGAGING THEIR ELECTED LEADERS TO AMPLIFY THEIR VOICES AT THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.Expenses $25,000
