THE EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN ITS EFFORTS TO INSPIRE LIFELONG LEARNING AND TO ENRICH THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.WE SECURE AND RESPONSIBLY MANAGE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, AND FOUNDATIONS TO BUILD COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR OUR EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
Program accomplishments
- PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATIONJULY 2024 - JUNE 2025THROUGH SPECIALIZED FUNDRAISING PROJECTS, THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN ABLE TO SUPPORT INITIATIVES BASED ON THE LIBRARY'S NEEDS. WITH CLOSE TO $3 MILLION CUTS PER YEAR TO THE LIBRARY'S GENERAL FUND, THIS SUPPORT IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT, SINCE THOSE CUTS HAVE ELIMINATED THE ABILITY FOR LIBRARY STAFF TO PURCHASE NEW BOOKS, SUPPORT PROGRAMMING, OR FUND NEW MATERIALS. FOUNDATION SUPPORT ALLOWS THE LIBRARY TO CONTINUE TO BRING IN HIGH QUALITY AND POPULAR AUTHORS, GROW THE VERY POPULAR "LIBRARY OF THINGS", AND ADD UP TO DATE SELECTIONS OF HIGH INTEREST BOOKS AND DVDS TO THEIR "LUCKY DAY" COLLECTION.AS THE EUGENE PROGRAM PARTNER FOR DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY, THE FOUNDATION RAISES FUNDS FOR LOCAL IMAGINATION LIBRARY EXPENSES VIA AN ANNUAL LUNCHEON. THE LUNCHEON FOR THE 2024-25 FISCAL YEAR WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 9, 2024.AT BOOKED FOR THE EVENING 2025: UPLIFTING COMMUNITY, THE FOUNDATION'S PREMIERE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT THAT WAS HELD ON MAY 3, ATTENDEES GATHERED IN THE DOWNTOWN LIBRARY, FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE FOURTH FLOOR, TO SUPPORT THE FIRST STAGE OF THE FOURTH FLOOR TRANSFORMATION FROM SPACE USED FOR OFFICES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES FROM 2002-2024, TO A MUCH NEEDED PROGRAMMING SPACE FOR THE LIBRARY. MORE THAN 265 GUESTS ATTENDED THE EVENT. FUNDS RAISED WILL ALLOW THE LIBRARY TO PURCHASE MOVABLE FURNITURE AND WALLS, PAINT, CARPETING, AND OTHER NEEDED ENHANCEMENTS.FOUNDATION SUPPORT ALLOWED EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY STAFF TO BRING NYT BESTSELLING AUTHOR, TJ KLUNE, TO THE LIBRARY THE WEEK FOLLOWING BOOKED FOR THE EVENING, ON MAY 10. MORE THAN 325 COMMUNITY MEMBERS ATTENDED THE PRESENTATION. IN SUMMER OF 2024, FOUNDATION SUPPORT FUNDED A FREE TALK BY LIDIA YUKNAVITCH, BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE ACCLAIMED NOVEL "THRUST," WHICH WAS THE ADULT SUMMER READING BOOK FOR THAT YEAR.THE FOUNDATION HELD ITS SECOND ANNUAL LOVE YOUR LIBRARY DESIGN CONTEST IN JANUARY 2025. THE PUBLIC WAS INVITED TO SUBMIT A DESIGN CONVEYING A LOVE FOR EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY. OVER 65 DESIGNS WERE SUBMITTED AND MORE THAN 1,200 VOTERS WEIGHED IN ON THEIR FAVORITES FROM THE FINALISTS. THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER WAS INTRODUCED TO ATTENDEES AT BOOKED FOR THE EVENING, THEN TO THE PUBLIC THE WEEK FOLLOWING, ALONG WITH THE RUNNERS UP. IN AUGUST 2024, THE FOUNDATION HOSTED AT THE DOWNTOWN LIBRARY AN EXHIBITION OF THE FIRST ANNUAL LOVE YOUR LIBRARY DESIGN CONTEST, WHICH WERE SUBMITTED IN JANUARY 2024.Expenses $408,178 · grants $302,844
