Program accomplishments

  • REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE: MASON COUNTY CLIMATE JUSTICE IS DEDICATED TO INCREASING LOCAL FOOD SECURITY, SOIL HEALTH, AND ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION THROUGH COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY FOOD FORESTS, GARDENS, AND PLANT GIVEAWAYS. IN 2025, MORE THAN 3,200 COMMUNITY MEMBERS BENEFITED FROM OUR PROGRAMS: WE GAVE AWAY AND PLANTED MORE THAN 72,000 OF FRUIT TREES, NUT TREES, BERRY BUSHES, AND NATIVE PLANTS FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES, PRIORITIZING COLLABORATIONS WITH OUR FRONTLINE COMMUNITIES.
    Expenses $163,250
  • JUST TRANSITION: THROUGH GRANTMAKING, COALITION WORK, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS, MASON COUNTY CLIMATE JUSTICE WORKS FOR A JUST TRANSITION FROM AN EXTRACTIVE ECONOMY TO A ZERO-WASTE REGENERATIVE ECONOMY THAT ALLOWS ALL FORMS OF LIFE TO THRIVE IN BALANCE. IN 2025, WE FUNDED MASON COUNTY'S ONLY MULTILINGUAL FOOD BANK, COLLABORATED WITH A MOBILE HOME PARK COOPERATIVE TO BUILD A HOME REPAIR TOOL LIBRARY, AND DEVELOPED THE NEXT GENERATION OF MASON COUNTY LEADERSHIP THROUGH OUR CEDAR STEWARDS OF MASON COUNTY (CSMC) PROJECT. CSMC YOUTH LEADERS CONDUCTED COMMUNITY RESEARCH, SERVED ON ADVISORY COMMITTEES, AND WON LOCAL POLICY CHANGES THAT BENEFIT EVERYONE IN OUR RURAL COMMUNITY.

  • LAND & CULTURE CONSERVATION: TO SUPPORT LOCAL CLIMATE RESILIENCE AND THE PASSING ON OF TRADITIONAL ECOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE, MASON COUNTY CLIMATE JUSTICE ENGAGES IN A VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE LAND PROJECTS. IN 2025, MCCJ PURCHASED 70 ACRES OF LEGACY FOREST, A SALMON-BEARING STREAM, MULTIPLE BIODIVERSE ECOSYSTEMS, AND NATIVE PLANTS VITAL FOR LOCAL TRIBAL CULTURAL TRADITIONS. PRESERVING THIS LAND ENSURES THAT THE TEACHINGS OF THE OLDEST TREES AND SACRED PLANTS WILL CONTINUE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
    Expenses $33,141
  • LEGACY FOREST PROTECTION: MASON COUNTY CLIMATE JUSTICE DEFENDS LOCAL LEGACY FORESTS THROUGH LEGAL ACTION AND GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZING. WE BRING TOGETHER A BROAD AND DIVERSE COALITION OF PEOPLE COMMITTED TO PROTECTING OUR OLDEST, MOST BIODIVERSE AND STRUCTURALLY COMPLEX FORESTS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC, RECREATIONAL, HEALTH, SAFETY, SPIRITUAL, AND CULTURAL PURPOSES. IN 2025, WE ORGANIZED WITH TRIBAL CULTURAL KEEPERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS, WHICH RESULTED IN THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION OF 92 ACRES OF LEGACY FOREST IN MASON COUNTY.
