Mission

CLIMB provides free legal support to under resourced small business owners and entrepreneurs who could not otherwise afford legal services. CLIMB leverages volunteer support by relying on its network of large law firms and corp. legal depts who have committed to supporting small business

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • CLIMBs primary program is connecting clients to law firms for individualized legal services. CLIMB staff identifies community referral partners working with small business and entrepreneurs, conducts intake meetings with potential clients, reviews clients eligibility for pro bono services, recruits volunteer attorneys, connects the clients with the volunteer attorneys, and oversees the volunteer/client relationship.
    Expenses $142,811
  • CLIMB runs several legal clinics each year, which are staffed by volunteer attorneys and legal professionals, often in partnership with one large firm and one large corporate legal department. During these clinics, small business owners and entrepreneurs submit questions and issues in advance of the clinic, and then sit down with a team of attorneys for a one hour legal consult, wherein attorneys answer questions and help issue-spot.
    Expenses $22,540
  • CLIMB offers free legal education seminars, wherein volunteer attorneys present extensive overviews on different areas of law to groups of small business owners and entrepreneurs. For example, CLIMB has recruited attorneys and prepared presentation topics such as contracts, intellectual property, corporate entity formation, and many more. Legal work in all of these program areas is conducted by CLIMBs large network of volunteer attorneys, who donate their time and expertise entirely pro bono. By leveraging volunteers, CLIMB provides nearly four times its annual operating budget in donated legal services.
    Expenses $21,588
