Mission

The mission of the Jax Freebirds is to swiftly and compassionately respond to the immediate needs of individuals and families in the Jacksonville community who have experienced tragedy or loss. 990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • During the 2025 fiscal year, Jax Freebirds fulfilled its mission of supporting first responders, veterans, and community members in crisis through four significant charitable grants totaling $29,500 in direct financial assistance. Jax Freebirds issued a grant of $10,000 to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Officer to support his recovery following a serious line-of-duty injury. This grant was intended to assist with medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and unforeseen financial needs not covered by standard benefits, reflecting the organization's commitment to standing with first responders whose service results in personal hardship. Jax Freebirds issued a grant of $7,500 to the family of a Clay County Fire Rescue veteran, who faced severe financial hardship as a result of a serious and ongoing medical condition. This contribution was intended to offset medical and dialysis-related expenses, lost income, and essential household needs, providing stability to the family and their newborn son during a critical period. Jax Freebirds issued a grant of $10,000 to a local Jacksonville family following the total loss of their family home due to fire. This contribution was intended to assist with immediate essential needs, including temporary housing, clothing, food, and out-of-pocket recovery costs not fully covered by insurance, helping the family regain stability in the aftermath of a traumatic crisis. Jax Freebirds issued the second annual installment of $2,000 toward a $7,500 scholarship fund established in memory of a local student-athlete at Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, who passed away in 2024. Created in partnership with the Fletcher High School Lacrosse Team, this scholarship honors commitment to sportsmanship, faith, and teamwork, and is awarded annually to student-athletes who embody those same values. Distributions will continue until the full $7,500 commitment is fulfilled, ensuring a legacy endures within the Fletcher community for years to come.
