Mission

The Iowa Chamber Music Collective desires to make chamber music accessible to all, by uniting families and students with music education, specifically string performance, to further the opportunity for young people from low income families to learn and practice music, and to promote chamber and orchestra music in the greater Cedar Valley community.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • The Iowa Chamber Music Collective held a week long summer camp, developing partnerships between individuals and families from different backgrounds by creating and experiencing music. The campers break up into sections to work on the pieces and receive more one on one instruction, then come together as an orchestra to practice together. The camp culminates in a concert on the last day for friends and family members. We serve students in grades 4 through 8 who are beginning to intermediate string musicians from the Cedar Valley. We offered scholarships to 5 students to attend the camp. The summer music camp allowed underserved student musicians to experience quality instruction and performance. Grant monies were used to help fund the summer camp.
    Expenses $4,262 · grants $3,112
  • Held 6 chamber orchestra concerts in 2025 at various venues in the Cedar Valley area and surrounding areas, offering community enrichment and refreshments. There were 13 talented local musicians that participated in the concerts over the year in total. Over 300 individuals enjoyed the concerts held at these events. Professional printed programs were created to elevate the audience's experience of the music.
    Expenses $4,437 · grants $1,888
  • We hosted a youth recital with a petting zoo for instruments at the local public library. This is to give people an opportunity to both hear the instruments and pick up and play the instrument for themselves.
  • 12 students participated in Iowa's first Make Music Day event with the Hearst Center for the Arts in Cedar Falls on June 21, 2025. Make Music Day started in France and migrated to the U.S. Cedar Falls was the first city in Iowa to participate.
