Program accomplishments

  • a.In 2024, the Board of the Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation approved a grant to expand the Evans Medical Center, currently a clinic in Lungi, Sierra Leone, into a small rural hospital (Address: Evans Medical Center, Makasa, Kirma Area, Port Loko Highway, Lungi, Sierra Leone). The construction of the hospital was the main service accomplishment for this nonprofit in calendar year 2025. A total of $45,000 in grant funds were provided to the Evans Medical Center in tax year 2025 to be used toward the construction of the hospital. Groundbreaking for the project was in January 2025. The construction process was closely monitored by the Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation, and several blogs have been posted on the organizations website, noting the construction of each floor, installation of the roof in September 2025, and interior work in process, such as electrical and plumbing, in November 2025. • b.The second major accomplishment in 2025 was partnering with TriMedX Foundation to host two biomedical engineer mission groups in Lungi, Sierra Leone, during their ongoing bi-annual trips this country. The Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation facilitated visits to Bai Burah Memorial Hospital and Evans Medical Center, coordinating local transportation and lodging for the group and expanding their reach to areas they had not previously visited. Although no organization funds were expended, relationships were strengthened and these two medical centers were placed on the TriMedX Foundation rotation of hospitals they support through their bi-annual mission trips. The biomedical engineers assessed medical equipment, performed maintenance on equipment, and trained local staff on proper maintenance activities.
