Mission

Families for a Livable Climate (FLC) creates community for climate action by equipping families of all kinds with tools, relationships, and opportunities they need to engage in meaningful, community-powered solutions. Grounded in the belief that belonging is the foundation for lasting change, FLC transforms climate concern into collective action through three integrated program areas: climate communication and storytelling, grassroots organizing and leadership development, and coalition-building.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • - Volunteer engagement & leadership development: We continue to expanded our volunteer Working Group model, supporting multiple active groups of community members to lead climate initiatives across Montana focused on Clean Energy, Healthy Schools, Sustainable Investing, and Beyond Plastics. Volunteers organized and facilitated events, led actions, and built community partnerships. In 2025, we deepened our Climate Leadership Program, providing mentorship and leadership opportunities for emerging climate leaders, with growing emphasis on youth leadership and intergenerational collaboration.- Youth engagement & mentorship: We significantly expanded our youth-centered programming, including the development of a Youth Mentorship Network to support young climate leaders across the state. We provided support and training to youth involved in climate actions, and created spaces for youth voices through panels, events, and community storytelling initiatives.- Events, education & community engagement: We hosted a wide range of community events, workshops, and gatherings focused on climate education, connection, and action. These included climate storytelling events, action parties, leadership trainings, and workshops on topics such as climate resilience, climate conservations, emotional well-being, and regenerative practices. We also partnered with organizations statewide to support events such as climate weeks, community conversations, and issue-based forums. - Storytelling & communications: We continued to elevate climate storytelling as a core strategy for engagement and cultural change. This included publishing new issues of The Changing Times, our community climate art and writing magazine, as well as producing digital content, campaigns, and storytelling events that highlight local voices, youth leadership, and community-driven climate solutions.
