Program accomplishments

  • In FY25, KMTA supported many community-based projects, including installing 16 signs across 25 miles of the Iditarod National Historic Trail, brushing 9 miles of historic trails, helping cleanup and maintain 3 campsites, and hosting 4 volunteer trail events. We helped provide training and professional development to 25 organizations and engaged 65 partners and 55+ volunteers who contributed nearly 7,000 volunteer hours to projects that supported local communities in the National Heritage Area. Additionally, we hosted our popular Spencer Glacier Dash recreation race that drew 125 participants to the region to experience travel on the Alaska Railroad and run through a historic part of our wild landscape.
