Mission

AGROS' MISSION IS TO SEE RURAL POOR FAMILIES OWN AGRICULTURAL LAND, ATTAIN ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY, REALIZE THEIR GOD-GIVEN POTENTIAL, AND PASS ON TO FUTURE GENERATIONS THE VALUES AND RESOURCES THAT ENABLE THEM TO FLOURISH.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • AT AGROS, WE BELIEVE THAT RURAL FAMILIES ARE NOT DEFINED BY POVERTY, BUT BY POTENTIAL. FOR MORE THAN FOUR DECADES, WE HAVE WALKED ALONGSIDE FARMING FAMILIES ACROSS CENTRAL AMERICA, PUTTING LAND AND BUSINESS OWNERSHIP INTO THEIR HANDS AND EMPOWERING THEM TO CREATE LASTING WEALTH AND DIGNITY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. GUIDED BY OUR FAITH IN CHRIST AND BY THE CONVICTION THAT EVERY FAMILY HAS THE RIGHT TO WRITE AND LEAD THEIR OWN STORY, AGROS HAS TRANSFORMED THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 23,000 INDIVIDUALS SINCE OUR FOUNDING.2024 MARKED A YEAR OF BOTH CELEBRATION AND BOLD BEGINNINGS. AS WE COMMEMORATED AGROS' 40TH ANNIVERSARY, WE LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR AN AMBITIOUS FIVE-YEAR IMPACT PLAN DESIGNED TO REACH 50,000 PEOPLE BY 2034. THANKS TO THE TRUST AND GENEROSITY OF OUR SUPPORTERS, IN 2024 WE SECURED THE RESOURCES TO PURCHASE LAND AND PREPARE FOR AGROS' HISTORIC RETURN TO HONDURAS, AND TO EXPAND OUR PROGRAMS IN NICARAGUA AND GUATEMALA.ACROSS 99 VILLAGES AND TWO COUNTRIES, AGROS SERVED 10,706 PEOPLE THROUGH FOUR KEY PROGRAMS: LAND OWNERSHIP, MARKET-LED AGRICULTURE, FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT, AND HEALTH & WELL-BEING. THESE EFFORTS ARE NOT SIMPLY SERVICES - THEY ARE PATHWAYS TO OWNERSHIP AND PROSPERITY. FAMILIES IN OUR LA BENDICIN HARVEST OF HOPE CENTER, AGROS AGRIBUSINESS TRAINING HUB IN NICARAGUA, BROKE RECORDS IN AGRIBUSINESS REVENUES, WITH SOME PAYING OFF THEIR LAND IN THEIR VERY FIRST YEAR, AN ACHIEVEMENT ONCE UNIMAGINABLE.OUR WORK ALSO DELIVERED MEASURABLE VALUE: AN INDEPENDENT EVALUATION IN THREE NICARAGUAN COMMUNITIES SHOWED THAT EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED IN AGROS GENERATED $3.62 IN SOCIAL VALUE, PROVING THE EXTRAORDINARY RETURN ON INVESTMENT THAT YOUR PARTNERSHIP MAKES POSSIBLE.2024 WAS ALSO A YEAR OF INNOVATION. THROUGH CLIMATE-SMART PRACTICES, RURAL FAMILIES INCREASED CROP YIELDS BY UP TO 32% WHILE CAPTURING OVER 200 TONS OF CO2 EMISSIONS - TURNING VILLAGES INTO RESILIENT, SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.IN GUATEMALA, OUR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM (WEP) REMAINED A CORNERSTONE OF AGROS' INITIATIVES IN 2024, PROVIDING FINANCIAL RESOURCES, MENTORSHIP, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN-LED BUSINESSES. THE WEP GREW TO SERVE 912 CLIENTS - 100% OF WHOM LIVE IN MARGINALIZED RURAL AREAS AND 80% OF WHOM ARE WOMEN - WITH AN AVERAGE LOAN SIZE OF $605, ABOUT 15% OF THE COUNTRY'S PER CAPITA INCOME, REFLECTING A HIGH LEVEL OF FINANCIAL INCLUSION AND REACHING ECONOMICALLY VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. THE PROGRAM SUPPORTED OVER 90 VILLAGE BANKS ACROSS 80 COMMUNITIES - REINFORCING ITS COMMITMENT TO FINANCIAL ACCESSIBILITY FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS.LIKEWISE, WE SET THE GROUNDWORK FOR AGRO-EMPRENDE, OUR FIRST YOUTH-ORIENTED ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM.THESE STEPS REFLECT HOW 2024 SERVED AS A PIVOTAL YEAR OF PREPARATION AND MOMENTUM FOR WHAT IS NOW BECOMING A NEW ERA OF IMPACT.
