Mission
The mission of Just Peace Ministries is to uproot the underlying causes of community and state violence and build a culture of justice and peace in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
Program accomplishments
- Peace Walks is a citywide network of faith communities, grassroots organizations, and civic agencies that work together to prevent gun violence through weekly community walks from Memorial Day to Veterans Day each year. These gatherings address the emotional, spiritual, and material needs of neighborhoods most impacted by both community and police violence. Under Peace Walks, JPM has also provided direct support to victims of community violence and made contributions to other community events focused on gun-violence prevention or support for at-risk populations like high-school aged youth.Expenses $22,634 · grants $60,000
- Peace Place is a visionary hub for healing, creativity, and collaboration. It will house a business incubator, coworking space, affordable and low income green housing, and serve as a community center for peacemakers, wellness practitioners, social entrepreneurs, and justice advocates. Peace Place will also serve as home to youth programs, healing circles, and affordable housing initiatives, because the work of peace must be rooted in place. This is where ideas grow, partnerships form, and deep transformation begins.Expenses $3,064 · grants $12,000
