THERE WAS A FIRESTONE INDY NXT SERIES RACE ON SATURDAY AS WELL. FRIDAY WAS SLAGED TO BE A FREE FAMILY DAY WITH PRACTICE LAPS BY BOTH SERIES AS WELL AS DRIVER AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS. UNFORTUNATELY A VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM ACCOMPANIED BY TORNADO WARNINGS SCUTTLED FRIDAY ACTIVITIES EARLY. THE WEATHER THE REST OF THE WEEKNEND WAS FAVORABLE AND ALL EVENTS WERE RUN AS SCHEDULED. ATTENDANCE WAS FAR BELOW THAT OF THE THREE PREVIOUS YEARS INDYCAR RACE WEEKENDS, MAINLY DUE TO A LACK OF TITLE SPONSORSHIP EQUIVALENT TO THAT PROVIDED BY HY-VEE IN 2022-2024 WHICH MADE A-LIST MUSIC CONCERTS AND PROJECTED ADDITIONAL PROMOTIONAL EXPENDITURES FINANCIALLY INFEASIBLE FOR INDYCAR AND THEIR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. DESPITE LOWER ATTENDANCE THERE WAS STILL AN ESTIMATED $40 MILLION DIRECT ECONOMIC IMPACT ON IOWA.
