Mission
We are a non-partisan network of civic associations, faith-based organizations and nonprofits that come together to effect change on a larger scale than we could alone. We identify shared issues affecting our communities (such as housing insecurity, mental health issues and closing the technology divide). We build long-term relationships across lines that often divide us. We help regular people have a seat at the decision-making tables of Silicon Valley. We are a "sponsoring committee" because we are in the early stages of building an organization, and are affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the nations largest and longest-standing leadership development and organizing network. The IAF believes that a healthy democracy requires the active participation of ordinary people.
Program accomplishments
- 2025 was our first full year after our official founding as Silicon Valley Allied for the Common Good. We hired our first full time lead organizer, and grew to 21 diverse contributing institutions representing over 30,000 people. Each institution invests annual dues, and individuals within each institution contribute financially to support the work. Our first year of operations was focused on listening to the concerns of the members of those 21 Institutions, through a broad series of one-on-one relational dialogues, and House Meetings. All together we engaged in dialogue with 750 people. We also focused on training individuals on leadership and building power, and to date, have trained almost 200 people. As a result, we identified three key areas of concern to all of the people we represent and have begun researching these issues to identify actions we will take in 2026. The three areas are Healthcare SafetyNet for all residents of Santa Clara County, Immigration protection, and Neighborhood safety as some of our low-income neighborhoods are fraught with crime.Expenses $188,023 · revenue $272,986
