Program accomplishments

  • KANSAS CITY TOMORROW (KCT): AS A PROGRAM OF THE CIVIC COUNCIL OF GREATER KANSAS CITY, KCT IS COMMITTED TO DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CIVIC VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP. IT IS A SELECTIVE, TEN-MONTH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT PREPARES SENIOR LEVEL BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT IN THE KANSAS CITY REGION, SUCH AS SERVING ON THE BOARDS OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS OR BROADENING THEIR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP. THE MEASURES OF SUCCESS ARE FOCUSED ON CIVIC ENGAGEMENT UPON PROGRAM COMPLETION. KCT IS FUNDED THROUGH "TUITION" REVENUE THAT IS INTENDED TO COVER THE ACTUAL COST OF DELIVERING THE PROGRAM (IT FALLS SHORT OF COVERING THE FULL COST) AND THE CIVIC COUNCIL PROVIDES A SCHOLARSHIP FUND OF $22,000 TO SUPPORT THE RECRUITMENT OF COMMUNITY LEADERS, SMALL AND MINORITY BUSINESSES TO PARTICIPATE. CIVIC COUNCIL STAFF AND CONTRACTED FACILITATORS PROVIDE STAFF SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRAM AND CIVIC COUNCIL MEMBERS DONATE THEIR TIME AS PART OF THE LEADERSHIP GROUP THAT SUPPORTS AND GUIDES THE PROGRAM.
