Mission

THE BUILDING DECARBONIZATION COALITION HARNESSES THE POWER OF COALITION TO FORGE PATHS TO UPGRADE AND POWER HOMES AND BUILDINGS WITH CLEAN ELECTRICITY.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • THE BUILDING DECARBONIZATION COALITION ALIGNS CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS ON A PATH TO TRANSFORM THE NATION'S BUILDINGS THROUGH CLEAN ENERGY, USING POLICY, RESEARCH, MARKET DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT. THE BDC AND ITS MEMBERS ARE CHARTING THE COURSE TO ELIMINATE FOSSIL FUELS IN BUILDINGS TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S HEALTH, CUT CLIMATE AND AIR POLLUTION, PRIORITIZE HIGH-ROAD JOBS, AND ENSURE THAT OUR COMMUNITIES ARE MORE RESILIENT TO THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE.BDC BELIEVES THAT TO CREATE LASTING, EQUITABLE, SYSTEMIC CHANGE, POLICYMAKERS, INDUSTRY, AND ADVOCATES NEED TO BE AT THE SAME TABLE CRAFTING POLICIES THAT BUILD THE ELECTRIFICATION MARKET IN PARALLEL WITH PHASING OUT GAS. INDUSTRY NEEDS REGULATORY CERTAINTY TO SHIFT PRODUCTION, SALES AND TRAINING PRACTICES; WORKERS DESERVE A FAIR AND RESPONSIBLE TRANSITION TO HIGH-ROAD CAREERS; AND LOW-INCOME AND EJ COMMUNITIES SHOULD NOT EXPERIENCE DISPLACEMENT RISKS OR ADDITIONAL ENERGY BURDEN. TO ACHIEVE ALL OF THIS AT THE SPEED AND SCALE NEEDED, DIVERSE GROUPS MUST WORK TOGETHER TO CRAFT INCLUSIVE POLICIES.BDC IS A COLLECTION OF ENERGY PROVIDERS, MANUFACTURERS, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION FIRMS, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, REGIONAL COALITION LEADERS, AND NATIONAL NGOS, ALL COMMITTED TO ELIMINATING POLLUTION FROM THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. THROUGH MARKET AND POLICY SOLUTIONS, THE BDC CONVENES DIVERSE STAKEHOLDERS AND CATALYZES FAST, FAIR ACTION TO ACCELERATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF ZERO-EMISSION HOMES AND BUILDINGS, AND ELIMINATE ONE OF THE LARGEST SOURCES OF CLIMATE POLLUTION: BURNING FOSSIL FUELS IN BUILDINGS.
