Mission

Youth education and civic engagement. Civic engagement includes training and conversations on how local and state government works, and the importance of youth civic engagement. Community organizing is a part of civic engagement as well and includes 'know your rights' trainings, as well as issue teach-ins, rallies, and other events. We focus heavily on leadership and skills training. For example, we host 'telling your story,' one-on-one conversation, how to prepare for and facilitate meetings, and trainings on understanding power.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

  • In political and civic education, we engaged over 500 members of the Montgomery County community and over 100 youth in weekly political and civic education events, seminars, and planning meetings. Our salaried staff, board members, and membership spend about equal time on this program as our training described in program 2.
    Expenses $120,536
  • Our leadership and skills training around 'telling your story,' one-on-one conversations, preparing for and facilitating metings, and understanding power have been conducted and led by youth over 100 times in Montgomery County, MD.
