- FORM 990, PART I, LINE 1 - ORGANIZATION MISSION OR SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES PROMOTION OF SOCIAL WELFARE. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF GLAHR ACTION NETWORK, INC. IS TO PROMOTE SOCIAL WELFARE, PARTICULARLY AS IT RELATES TO CREATING, IMPLEMENTING, AND SUPPORTING PUBLIC POLICIES THAT BENEFIT COMMUNITIES. SUCH ACTIVITIES WILL COMMAND MORE THAN 50 OF THE ORGANIZATIONS TIME AND MORE THAN 50 OF ITS FINANCIAL RESOURCES. TO PROMOTE SOCIAL WELFARE, THE ORGANIZATION WILL ENGAGE IN THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: POLICY RESEARCH. GLAHR ACTION NETWORK, INC. WILL CONDUCT, COORDINATE, AND SPONSOR RESEARCH CONCERNING ISSUES ON LATINO DEMOGRAPHICS. THE RESULTS OF THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE USED TO INFORM AND DIRECT PUBLIC EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF THESE ISSUES AND PROVIDE PUBLIC POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS. PUBLIC EDUCATION. GLAHR ACTION NETWORK, INC. ENDEAVORS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND EDUCATE RESIDENTS OF GEORGIA ABOUT PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES IMPACTING COMMUNITIES ON ISSUES OF OF THE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROCESS AND GOTV: HOW IT WORKS, WHO IS ELIGIBLE, AND ITS REQUIREMENTS ETC. THE ORGANIZATION EXPECTS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL BY HOSTING SMALL EVENTS, PUBLIC FORUM TOWN HALLS, AND POLICY INSTITUTES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND POLITICAL LEADERSHIP TRAININGS WITHIN GEORGIA. THE ORGANIZATION WILL ALSO DO THIS BY PREPARING AND DISTRIBUTING LITERATURE CONCERNING THE SUBJECT. THE ORGANIZATION WILL UTILIZE VARIOUS MEDIA OUTLETS, INCLUDING TELEVISION, RADIO, NEWSLETTERS, AND ONLINE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TO DISSEMINATE ITS EDUCATIONAL MESSAGES. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION WILL PROMOTE PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES, THAT WILL EMPOWER GEORGIA COMMUNITIES AND CITIZENS TO GOTV AND TO REACH OUT TO THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES AND PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC DIALOGUE REGARDING COMMUNITY NEEDS. TO THE EXTENT THE ORGANIZATION ADVOCATES PUBLIC POLICY POSITIONS AT ITS INFORMATIONAL EVENTS OR IN ITS LITERATURE, THE POSITIONS WILL BE SUPPORTED BY A SUFFICIENTLY FULL AND FAIR EXPOSITION OF PERTINENT FACTS TO PERMIT THE READER TO FORM AN INDEPENDENT OPINION. ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES. GLAHR ACTION NETWORK, INC. MAY ADVOCATE CHANGES IN PUBLIC POLICY, PARTICULARLY THOSE RELATING TO LATINOS IN GEORGIA. THIS OBJECTIVE MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED BY OUTREACHING COMMUNITIES EDUCATING MEMBERS OF THE GEORGIA LEGISLATURE AND OTHER GOVERNING BODIES, OR BY BROADLY DISSEMINATING LITERATURA ADVOCATING CIVICA 101 AND OR CHANGE IN PLUBLIC POLICIES THROUGH CANVASSING. POLITICAL CAMPAING INTERVENTION. THE ORGANIZATION ANTICIPATES THAT IT WILL OCCASIONALLY INTERVENE IN POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS TO SUPPORT OR TO OPPOSE CANDIDATES THAT DONT ALIGN WITH GLAHR ACTION NETWORK, INC.S MISSION. THE ORGANIZATION IS, HOWEVER, FULLY COGNIZANT OF THE LEGAL LIMITATIONS ON POLITICAL INTERVENTION BY SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING THE STANDARDS SET FORTH IN REV. RUL. 81-95, 1981-1 C.B. 332 AND OTHER SOURCES, AND THE ORGANIZATION WILL NOT ALLOW POLITICAL CAMPAIGN INTERVENTION TO BECOME ITS PRIMARY PURPOSE OR TO CONSUME MORE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS TIME OR FINANCIAL RESOURCES THAN THE SOCIAL WELFARE ACTIVITIES DESCRIBED ABOVE.Expenses $1,073,854
