Program accomplishments

  • XLR8 (Accelerate)XLR8- XLR8 is a premier high school preparatory program designed exclusively for middle school students ages 1114. Through a structured combination of academic support, athletic performance training, mentorship, and character development, participants learn to manage their time effectively, demonstrate integrity, and build essential life skills, including resilience, teamwork, accountability, leadership, and perseverance. The following are the biggest expenses for this program: BYU Independent Study Online Curriculum Participants are enrolled as full-time students through Brigham Young University Independent Study, taking accredited online curriculum ie. (English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). Coursework is accessed through Canvas, a learning management system (LMS) used by schools, colleges, and organizations to deliver courses, manage assignments, and facilitate communication between instructors and students. Canvas provides a centralized portal where students can access course materials, lessons/videos, track due dates through a built-in calendar, submit assignments/projects, access online tutoring, take quizzes/ exams, view grades, receive instructor feedback, participate in discussions and collaborate with classmates. Healthy Lunch & Snack Program: nutrition education, recognizing the connection between nutrition, learning, and athletic performance, USADA provides students with healthy hot lunches and nutritious snacks throughout the program year. Meals are designed to incorporate the five major food groups and include fresh fruit, whole grain/protein bars, and natural fruit smoothies. Consistent access to nutritious meals supports student wellness, sustained energy, improved concentration, and overall program participation.College Tours: Each year XLR8 students participate in educational visits to as many as six local and out of town colleges and universities. These visits immerse students in college life through guided campus tours, presentations by admissions staff, interactions with faculty, student-athletes, coaches, and current college students, and participation in campus events. Transportation is provided using two organization-owned 15-passenger vans and or airplanes, ensuring equitable access for all participants regardless of family transportation resources.International Service Initiative (ISI) is a community service project exclusively for XLR8 alumni to experience a cultural learning exchange through sports, providing opportunities for personal growth, develop leadership skills, and gain a global perspective in Panama City, Panama. USADA student athletes, staff, and volunteers will lead sport clinics throughout multiple communities in Panama City teaching sport fundamentals, leading drills, and participate in exhibition games while bridging mutual respect and friendships with Panamanian youth. The trip also includes cultural activities to deepen their understanding of Panamas heritage, aiming to broaden perspectives, build leadership skills, and emphasize the value of service.
