Mission
Reduce the number of traffic crashes through community collaboration and education.
Program accomplishments
- Drive Smart Colorado worked with the El Paso County government to put together transportation safety ads as a tool to promote good habits. These messages were distributed and promoted by Drive Smart PPACG and local law enforcement agencies through social media and YouTube.
- Drive Smart Colorado hosted meetings with local law enforcement agencies to discuss current traffic safety challenges. These conversations resulted in collaborative efforts and joint patrolling events in the region.
- Drive Smart worked in conjunction with Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments to support their successful effort to obtain a grant through NITSA. PPACG is the recipient of this grant and the Drive Smart Board of Directors is assisting with the activities specified in the grant agreement.
- Drive Smart became the host of the Traffic Safety Coalition. This group is made up of local leaders from law enforcement hospitals schools and other public health agencies. This group has been meeting for several years but now has an official home base within Drive Smart. The coalition renamed itself this year to the Drive Smart Traffic Safety Coalition. Drive Smart hosts coalition meetings once a month at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments.
