Mission

To act and operate exclusively as a non-profit corporation pursuant to the laws of the State of Utah, and to act and operate as a charitable organization in mitigating the negative effects of divorce in the lives of individuals, families, and society by creating safe-to-share environments that help individuals come to peace with their past, feel support in the present, and prevent divorce in their future.

Program accomplishments

  • Dealing With Divorce (DWD) provides accessible, virtual support groups Sunday through Thursday at 7 PM MST. These support groups allow individuals affected by divorce - including divorcees and children of divorce - find support, learn about others' experiences, engage in self-discovery, and continue healing from the effects of divorce (including mental and physical health consequences, financial consequences, and more). DWD currently has 20 facilitators who conduct the virtual support groups, and 180 members who receive the weekly newsletters and invites to the weekly meetings. In a recent data analysis of member surveys performed at a local university, DWD support groups were found to significantly alleviate the effects of divorce, especially the mental and emotional effects. DWD also provides training and educational resources to volunteer facilitators, grant writers, social media interns, and community outreach coordinators to further their skill sets and abilities. All DWD volunteers are also affected by divorce. Finally, DWD also provides additional resources, from weekly newsletters with insights, tips, and referrals, to special speaker events with experts on various aspects of divorce.
