Mission
OUR MISSION IS TO MOBILIZE EXPLOITED FAMILIES AND THEIR ALLIES TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE. WE WILL TARGET FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITIES, NOT JUST SYMPTOMS.
Program accomplishments
- CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA HAS FIVE ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS. WE COLLABORATE WITH WISCONSIN HUNGER TASK FORCE, PAUL'S PANTRY, VOCES DE LA FRONTERA, INCOURAGE, THE HAVEN, AND HOPE HOUSE AS WELL AS BEING THE ONLY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION MEMBER OF THE LGBT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN MANITOWOC COUNTY. WITH THESE PARTNERS AND OTHERS CRUSADERS TACKLES STRUCTURAL INEQUITIES IN EVERY PROGRAM WE PROVIDE.HOMELESSNESS IS ONE OF THE LARGEST STRUCTURAL INEQUITIES FACING WISCONSIN FAMILIES. CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA IS A PARTNER IN THE HOUSING COALITION PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES IN HELPING APPLICANTS APPLY DIRECTLY TO HUD AND SECTION 8 HOUSING. WE ALSO PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS IN MEANS OF HOTEL VOUCHERS, WARM CLOTHING, FOOD, HYGIENE PRODUCTS, AND OTHER BASIC ESSENTIALS. ONE OF OUR MOST VALUABLE PARTNERSHIPS IS WITH THE SOUTHFIELD TOWNHOUSES TO HELP ASSIST FAMILIES IN TIMES OF CRISIS. CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA IS ALSO INVOLVED IN LOBBYING AND ADVOCATING FOR MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL.WHAT SETS CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA APART IS WE PROVIDE ESSENTIAL SERVICES FOR IMMIGRANTS LIVING IN OUR COMMUNITIES. WE HAVE AN IN-HOUSE IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY AS WELL AS A CRIMINAL ATTORNEY. WE ALSO PROVIDE IMMIGRATION WORKSHOPS THAT HELP WITH DACA APPLICATIONS, CITIZENSHIP APPLICATIONS, AND VISA APPLICATIONS. WE HAVE A DOJ CERTIFIED BOARD MEMBER AND IN-HOUSE TRANSLATOR. CRUSADERS'S LARGEST PROGRAM IS OUR LEGAL WATCHDOGS WHO ARE PRESENT IN COURT PROCEEDINGS FREQUENTLY KEEPING UPDATES ON CCAP CASES TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE RECEIVES DUE PROCESS. CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA IS THE FIRST NON-PROFIT TO PROVIDE JAILHOUSE COMMUNICATION SERVICES THROUGHOUT THREE NORTHEAST WISCONSIN COUNTIES. THE COST OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DETAINEES AND EITHER THEIR FAMILIES OR LEGAL REPRESENTATION HAS SKYROCKETED SINCE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PRIVATIZED COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS. CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA PROVIDES ASSISTANCE IN BRIDGING THAT GAP TO MAKE SURE ALL DETAINEES ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY BY PROVIDING A FREE HOTLINE AND EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE FOR ANYONE THAT IS DETAINED.DURING THIS GLOBAL PANDEMIC, OUTREACH AND IN-PERSON SERVICES HAS BEEN NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. UTILIZING OUR POP-UP PANTRY CRUSADERS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE AND COMMUNICATIONS ON HOW TO CONNECT TO OTHER ESSENTIAL RESOURCES. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION SUCH AS SUICIDE PREVENTION HOTLINE, WIC, FOOD SHARE, EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, AND EMERGENCY SERVICES OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC. CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA WAS FOUNDED FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF BRIDGING THE GAPS OF STRUCTURAL AND SYSTEMIC RACISM IN NORTHEAST WISCONSIN. WE STAND BY OUR MOTTO AND EVERYTHING WE DO, "YOUR FIGHT IS MY FIGHT AND TOGETHER IT'S OUR FIGHT".ALONG WITH THESE PROGRAMS CRUSADERS OF JUSTICIA KNOWS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HELP SHAPE FUTURE LEADERS. OUR RISE PROGRAM "REVOLUTION IN STUDENT EMPOWERMENT" IS OUR YOUTH ARM OF CRUSADERS. THESE POWERFUL YOUTH HAVE ORGANIZED SOME OF OUR LARGEST FUNDRAISERS AND HAVE PROVIDED RESOURCES AS FAR AS EVEN MISSISSIPPI. RISE IS COMPOSED OF BOYS AND GIRLS FROM EVERY AGE AND EVERY DEMOGRAPHIC AND STRIVES TO BE THE CHANGE WE ALL WANT TO SEE IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THESE STUDENTS HAVE SPENT HUNDREDS OF HOURS VOLUNTEERING IN OUR FOOD DRIVE COLLECTING ESSENTIALS FOR CHILDREN FOR THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, ORGANIZING A CHRISTMAS GIFT PROGRAM, AND EVEN ORGANIZING A FUNDRAISER TO HELP FAMILIES IN HONDURAS.
