Mission
THE MISSION OF THE BISBEE SCIENCE EXPLORATION AND RESEARCH CENTER, INC. IS TO FOSTER THE EXPLORATION, TEACHING, AND PRACTICE OF SCIENCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC LITERACY BY THE PUBLIC AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE SCIENTIFIC INQUIRIES NEEDED FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR LIVES.
Program accomplishments
- BISBEE SCIENCE LAB - PROVIDES SCIENCE FRIDAYS, SCIENCE CAFES, MAKER/TINKER SPACE, AND PIE SKY ASTRONOMY EVENTS. OVER 800 PERSONS PARTICIPATED IN 2025.Expenses $60,462
- SKY ISLAND STEAM EXPRESS MOBILE LAB - PROVIDES MULTIPLE MOBILE SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS TO 22 RURAL SCHOOLS IN COCHISE COUNTY. OVER 1,500 PERSONS PARTICIPATED IN 2025.Expenses $47,171
- BACKYARD PROJECT - REMAINS IN THE DESIGN PHASE FOR 2025. A COLLABORATION WITH THE BISBEE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO TRANSFORM 8 ACRES OF SCHOOL PROPERTY INTO A REGENERATIVE LEARNING ECOSYSTEM THAT WILL BE UTILIZED AS A COMMUNITY ASSET. THORA COLOT IS THE PROJECT MANAGER.Expenses $244,444
