Mission

ACTS mission is to improve the quality of life for all Anne Arundel County residents. We accomplish this mission by listening to community voices, developing local leadership, researching the problems, and working with state and local stakeholders to implement solutions that reduce the impact of economic, social, and racial injustice.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • ACTs Housing Team conducted research into the barriers that exist in Anne Arundel County and Maryland in affordable homeownership and rental opportunities. Using this research, ACT conducted education with its own members and the broader community about potential solutions including a possible inclusionary zoning policy that requires the creation of below market rate units in all new housing developments.
    Expenses $71,912
  • ACt worked with its sister organizations in Maryland to pass state-wide legislation to address additional barriers to affordable and stable housing. ACT educated its members on upcoming pending legislation and how to participate in the legislative process and engage with their elected officials. ACT helped to pass two bills that will incentivize the creation of more affordable housing across the state and will give renters more stability in their homes.
    Expenses $71,912
  • ACT invests in developing local community leaders by providing training opportunities for new and emerging leaders to learn the skills required to make change in their communities. In 2024, ACT trained over 100 everyday people in the skills of: community listening, researching systemic issues, and engaging with local and state decision makers to implement solutions.
    Expenses $31,036
