Mission
THE GLOBAL SOLIDARITY FUND (GSF) IS A UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP OF ORGANIZATIONS WORKING FOR INTEGRAL HUMAN DEVELOPMENT COMMITTED TO CREATING SYSTEMIC CHANGE AT THE GRASSROOTS LEVEL, IN ORDER TO UNLOCK SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES THAT EMPOWER THE POOR AND VULNERABLE. WE DO THIS THROUGH ACTIVATING AND LINKING CATHOLIC NETWORKS AND LIKEMINDED ENTITIES AND OTHER GLOBAL ACTORS, IN WAYS THAT REFLECT CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING AND THE GLOBAL GOALS.
Program accomplishments
- THE GSF'S MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS WILL BE WOMEN AND GIRLS, FAMILIES, AND HEALTH CARE. WITHIN THIS FRAMEWORK THERE ARE FOUR STRATEGIC PILLARS OF WORK: GLOBAL HEALTH, INCLUDING BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASES -CAPACITY BUILDING -PEOPLE ON THE MOVE/DISPLACED PEOPLE, WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON FAMILY AND CHILD PROTECTION ENTREPRENEURSHIP/JOB CREATION, WITH EMPHASIS ON UNLOCKING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS. THE GSF IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING A DATA-DRIVEN AND DATA-SUPPORTED IMPLEMENTATION, AS WELL AS A STRATEGIC APPROACH GUIDED BY FILLING EXISTING GAPS AND MAXIMIZING RESULTS OF EXISTING NETWORKS CREATING NEW ENTITIES. IN 2024, THE GLOBAL SOLIDARITY FUND EXPANDED THEIR PROGRAMME SUPPORT ON A VISION OF A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND A HEALTHY LIFE, AND WHERE ESSENTIAL HUMAN DIGNITY IS FULLY RESPECTED. THE GSF ORGANIZATION'S FIRST STREAM OF WORK IS TO CONNECT CATHOLIC NETWORKS WITH PARTNERS TO DRIVE SYSTEMIC CHANGE FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE, STARTING WITH MIGRANTS, ESPECIALLY WOMEN AND CHILDREN. IN 2024, GSF WORKED WITH THEIR LOCAL PARTNERS TO EXPAND THEIR EFFORTS IN ETHIOPIA AND STARTED SIMILAR INITIATIVES IN COLOMBIA AND NIGERIA. THESE PROJECTS LAUNCHED AN INTEGRATED APPROACH WITH CONGREGATIONS THAT COMBINES ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND JOB CREATION, HEALTH, AND EDUCATION FOR THE POOREST AND MOST VULNERABLE, WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON WOMEN AND FAMILIES. THE GSF ORGANIZATION'S SECOND STREAM OF WORK IS TO FOCUS ITS EFFORTS IN CREATING PARTNERSHIPS AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT FURTHER EMPOWER CATHOLIC SISTERS' LEADERSHIP TO SHAPE DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS FOR THOSE IN NEED. TO IMPROVE THE RECOGNITION OF WOMEN RELIGIOUS' WORK, 2 POLICY PAPERS WERE PRODUCED TO STRENGHTEN THE SISTERS' ADVOCACY EFFORTS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT IN LINE WITH THE COP27 EVENT IN LATE 2024. THE GSF ORGANIZATION'S THIRD STREAM OF WORK IS TO BUILD ALLIANCES AND TELL THE STORY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH'S DEVELOPMENT CONTRIBUTION. THE GSF HAS RESPONDED TO THE CALL TO ACTION WITH URGENCY, WITH ITS NETWORK DRAWING FROM ITS DIVERSE STRENGTHS TO SUPPORT THIS LEADERSHIP VIA THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS: A. LAUDATO SI MOVEMENT - A CAMPAIGN FOR THE LAUNCH OF A DOCUMENTARY, DEVELOPED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE VATICAN, FOCUSING ON CLIMATE CHANGE. B. VOICES OF THE MIGRANTS - A CAMPAIGN TO COMMUNICATE THE PROJECTS UNDER THE CARE OF WOMEN AND MEN RELIGIOUS AND MISSIONARIES IN ORDER TO PROMOTE MIGRANT PEOPLE'S INCLUSION IN THE WORK FIELD.Expenses $3,344,797 · grants $2,780,512
