Mission
A LONG-TERM RECOVERY ORGANIZATION HELPING INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY IN THE COMMUNITY TO RECOVER FROM DISASTER. HOPE DISASTER RECOVERY SHARES CY-HOPE'S PURPOSE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO MAKING LIFE BETTER FOR THE CHILDREN OF CY-FAIR.
Program accomplishments
- HOPE DISASTER RECOVERY (HDR) CONTINUED TO SERVE THE SURVIVORS OF DISASTERS IN 2024.DURING THE FIRST 6 MONTHS DURING THE BLUE SKY DAYS WE FOCUSED ON THE UNITED WAY INTEGRATED CLIENT JOURNEY, PROVIDING NAVIGATION SERVICES AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.WE ALSO DEVELOPED A NETWORK OF 22 CONGREGATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR PERIOD POVERTY PROJECT.CONGREGATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WERE TRAINED IN THE ACQUISITION OF MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS AND ASSEMBLING THEM INTO 3,000 MENSTRUAL KITS, WHICH ALONG WITH OTHER BASIC NEEDS WERE DISTRIBUTED AMONG 53 NON-PROFIT AGENCIES FOR DISTRIBUTION.TEXAS CONGREGATIONAL DISASTER READINESS REFORMED INTO A NETWORK OF 9 AGENCIES IN 7 COUNTIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING EACH OTHER DURING DISASTERS. NINE TRAINING SESSIONS WERE OFFERED TO VOLUNTEERS OF THESE MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS.Expenses $1,212,980 · grants $1,000,640
- THE HELP AT LONG LAST PROGRAM CONTINUED WITH VOLUNTEERS WHO WENT INTO THE HOMES OF THE ELDERLY, DISABLED, SINGLE PARENTS, AND VETERANS TO PERFORM 24 "HONEY DO" MAINTENANCE REPAIRS AROUND THE HOUSE. THIS INCLUDED FIXING PLUMBING LEAKS, INSTALLING AND OR CHECKING SMOKE ALARMS, PAINTING, CLEANING DRYER VENTS, INSTALLING WINDOW A/C UNITS, AND SUCH.
- AFTER THE MAY FLOODING, THE DERECHO STORM OF JUNE AND HURRICANE BERYL IN JULY, WE MOBILIZED VOLUNTEERS TO MUCK, GUT, AND TARP. IN AUGUST WE RECEIVED $750,000 FROM THE GREATER HOUSTON DESASTER ALLIANCE TO REPAIR HOMES DAMAGED BY THOSE THREE STORMS. WE COMPLETED 32 REBUILDS BY YEAR'S END, AND PROVIDED $350,000 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. IN DECEMBER WE ACTIVATED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH MENNONITE DISASTER SERVICES WHO COMMITTED TO SENDING AMISH AND MENNONITE VOLUNTEERS THROUGHOUT THE COMING WINTER, SUMMER, AND AGAIN THE WINTER OF 2027.
