Mission
Living Water for Kenya, Inc.'s primary purpose is to provide people of Western Kenya (East Africa), with humanitarian, educational, spiritual, and leadership assistance.
Program accomplishments
- Through its CHILDREN'S PRESCHOOL PROGRAM, in 2024 LWFK (Living Water For Kenya, Inc) funded the operation of six preschools that served over 300 severely impoverished children. For some of these children, the only food and clothing that they had was provided at school by LWFK. The free education that they received has given them a head start on learning skills that will serve them for life. In 2024, LWFK reconstructed two preschool classroom buildings, two preschool toilet buildings, one preschool kitchen, and one caretaker's house that had seriously deteriorated from termite and storm damage. No funding other than that provided by LWFK is available. for these needs. The Kenyan government has no assistance available.Expenses $22,163
- The BLESSED TO BLESS ACADEMY is a grade 1 through 9 School for approximately 275 youth that was built by LWFK. In 2024 LWFK started the construction of a new classroom, funded repairs to, and maintenance of several buildings, and replaced a severely storm damaged water tank and tower. We also provided bussing for the school children. LWFK's donor sponsors fully covered the educational costs of 66 of the Academy's students. No funding other than that provided by LWFK is available for these needs. The Kenyan government has no assistance available.Expenses $37,712
- Continued SCHOOLING OF THE ACADEMY GRADUATES ... even though these students are no longer in the Academy, most of our sponsors have loyally supported their students (49) that have graduated the Academy's 9th grade and are now attending local high schools. Furthermore, 20 of our donors continue to fund one year of Trade School after high school. Other than from LWFK, there are no assistance programs for these children in Kenya to cover their high school costs.Expenses $20,283
- Through its CHURCH SUPPORT PROGRAM LWFK worked in 2024 with five local churches to establish good and secure facilities, training, and pastor housing. LWFK has provided most of these churches with water wells, the water is provided free to the community. Two of the churches are used for the adult Literacy/Bible Programs and one that is used for sewing classes on weekdays is also used by the government for a medical clinic on Saturdays. These churches often provide seminars for Christian training of church leaders throughout the region. No funding other than that provided by LWFK is available for these needs. The Kenyan government has no assistance available.Expenses $9,641
- Through LWFK's unique ADULT BIBLE STUDY AND LITERACY PROGRAMS in two of the churches, illiterate people are having their lives changed. One of these programs serves 120 Senior Adults while the other serves 57. These classes teach them how to read and how to handle money. In addition, 15 adult "SEEKERs" are learning about Jesus. These two churches are in extremely remote, rural areas where most of the adults have no such knowledge. LWFK provides eyeglasses and shoes through the Literacy/Bible Program. In 2021 one of the women graduates won an election for a community leader position. In winning, she beat five men because she had these skills, and they did not. This program, which welcomes anyone, is changing lives. No funding other than that provided by LWFK is available for these needs. The Kenyan government has no assistance available.Expenses $13,972
- The WIDOW PROGRAM reaches out to older widows and some widowers and provides them both with fellowship and with a means of raising food for themselves to eat and to sell. Over 180 elderly currently participate in the program which provides them with corn seeds and fertilizer for the two growing seasons. One of the benefits of this program is that each participant brings in 10% of their harvest which they distribute among the less fortunate and the more infirm of the community. Under this program LWFK also has an element which using treadle sewing machines teaches widows and young women at two locations how to sew (make) clothing which they sell. Graduates of this program receive sewing machines of their own to help them earn a living. In 2024 LWFK rebuilt one of the sewing classrooms. No funding other than that provided by LWFK is available for these needs. The Kenyan government has no assistance available.Expenses $14,636
- WATER WELL DRILING PROGRAM. In 2024 LWFK drilled a water well that serves approximately 700 people in a very rural and impoverished community. Their current supply was a muddy stream that animals regularly came to cool off in, to bathe in and to drink out of. It was filthy and unreliable.Expenses $8,561
- KENYAN LEADERSHIP LOCAL TRAVEL FOR TRAINING - Some of our Kenyan Associates are regionally known teachers and leaders. Occasionally their attendance or leadership at a seminar or program is of benefit to our work or the works of others. These people are unable to cover the costs themselves, therefore LWFK covers those costs that it deems important to our work.Expenses $980
