Mission

ECCO's mission is to break down barriers to higher education by providing immigrant and first-generation students and their families with culturally relevant guidance on financial aid, admissions processes, and scholarship opportunities.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • Camino a la Universidad provided comprehensive college access support to immigrant and first-generation families during a critical time in the academic calendar. The program successfully delivered FAFSA appointments to first-time applicants navigating the newly implemented federal financial aid system, along with year-round orientation appointments providing individualized college preparation support. Participants reached key academic and enrichment benchmarks including ACT preparation, personal statement development, and scholarship application guidance. Strategic partnerships expanded with organizations providing financial literacy workshops, specialized FAFSA assistance, and venue space for large-scale programming. The organization's May outreach campaign connected with school counselors throughout New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, while promotional efforts through Latino-serving organizations expanded the program reach across the region. These accomplishments reflect the program's adaptability and commitment to meeting families where they are, providing culturally relevant, bilingual support throughout their college access journey.
