Mission

Urban Nature Partners PDX empowers youth from historically marginalized Portland populations by building connections to nature and community through long-term mentoring relationships.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, we served 15 enrolled youth ages 9-17, with 78% of the families we serve identifying as BIPOC and half as immigrants. In addition to youth participating in weekly or bi-weekly outdoor outings with their mentors, we provided 13 large group outdoor outing opportunities, 4 of which included mentor pairs from other Portland-based mentoring organizations, and most of which included family members of enrolled youth. Our small teen groups selected 8 additional group outings for themselves with trusted partners. We continued to send interested youth to day and overnight outdoor summer camps with partner organizations, at zero cost to their families. We continued our leadership role with long-time partners of a collaborative of staff working with youth outdoors in Portland, representing over two dozen area agencies and nonprofits. With our programming ending on December 31st, we held a Reunion Picnic in August where youth, families, mentors, and staff from almost 12 years of service gathered to celebrate our time together. Most existing mentor pairs decided to transfer to other mentoring programs, or to continue to see each other as family friends. We additionally passed on all of our partner contacts, program resources, and remaining outdoor gear to other mentoring organizations and outdoor service providers in the area, so the cumulative benefits of our program model can continue for other youth outside of our program.
