Mission

To inspire, motivate, educate and serve individuals, organizations and communities joining together to protect lives and property from wildfire across five southwest counties of Colorado

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Wildfire Mitigation Incentive Programs help individuals and communities in SW Colorado to reduce the overall cost of completing wildfire risk reduction activities. Activities include: defensible space site visit and cost share program, chipper rebate program, and other community-level projects. All incentive programs help residents by reimbursing for approved activities up to 50% of expenses, ultimately, lovering the overall cost of mitigation activities that subsequesntly make their properties safer in the event of a wildfire.
    Expenses $838,809
  • Education and outreach programs are focused on educating the general public of SW Colorado on wildfire preparedness including how to create defensible space for their homes and neighborhoods and evacuation planning. Outreach also includes our Neighborhood Ambassador Program, where staff support volunteer ambassadors (through trainings, HOA presentations, and community protection plans) who act as sparkplugs for their communities wildfire efforts, motivating their neighbors to learn to live with wildfire and create fire adapted communities. There are 135 volunteer ambassadors who represent 95 communities that have high risk of wildfire throughout the 5 counties in SW Colorado.
    Expenses $212,363
