EMBARKING ON A GENTLE EXPLORATION, TERRAIN BECOMES A PERSONAL JOURNEY, INVITING VISITORS TO UNCOVER THE SUBTLE NUANCES OF ART NESTLED WITHIN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF BUILDING 5 IN THE NW MARINE ARTWORKS COMPLEX IN PORTLANDS INDUSTRIAL NORTHWEST SIDE. ARTISTS ARE PROMPTED AND INVITED TO INTEGRATE NEW WORKS USING NATURAL MATERIALS AND FOUND INDUSTRIAL OBJECTS, DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM THE HISTORIC LANDSCAPE UPON WHICH BUILDING 5 NOW SITS AS WELL AS THE MANUFACTURING STRUCTURES OF THE CURRENT SITE. THE RESULTING ARTWORKS WILL TRANSCEND TRADITIONAL FORMS, ACTING AS CATALYSTS TO ACTIVATE THE TERRESTRIAL, AQUATIC, AND ARBOREAL ELEMENTS. FROM CAREFULLY CRAFTED EARTHWORKS TO AVANT-GARDE INSTALLATIONS, SCULPTURES, RESONANT SOUND INSTALLATIONS, AND INNOVATIVE PERFORMANCE ART, TERRAIN WILL MANIFEST A NATURE-CENTERED, MULTIDISCIPLINARY EXHIBITION. THIS CONVERGENCE OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS EMBODIES TERRAIN'S PRIMARY GOAL NURTURING CURIOSITY AND SPARKING ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP WITHIN THE BROADER COMMUNITY AS WELL AS (RE)TELLING THE STORY OF GUILD LAKE AND THE SURROUNDING LAND UPON WHICH BUILDING 5 NOW RESTS.
