Mission
THE MISSION/PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE (TOA) IS TO EDUCATE AND TRAIN BASED/CIVIC LEADERS FROM THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY, WHILE EMBRACING OTHER HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES (INCLUSIVE OF DIVERSE RACIAL, ETHNIC, GENDER, AND RELIGIOUS BACKGROUNDS) ON CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY AS IT PERTAINS TO SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE. THROUGH TEAMS OF VOLUNTEERS FROM INDIVIDUAL PARTNERSHIPS, TOA SOLICITS THE CONCERNS OF THE PEOPLE THROUGH TOWN HALL MEETINGS, WORKSHOPS, AND COMMUNITY FORUMS IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY TO DETERMINE THE AGENDA FOR POLICY ISSUES. THROUGH FAITH AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, TOA WILL BUILD UPON AN ALREADY STRONG CONTINGENCY FOR SUCCESSFUL VOTER REGISTRATION, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CLEAN ENERGY AND ADVANCING PUBLIC POLICIES.
Program accomplishments

IF THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE CONDUCTEDANY POLITICAL ACTIVITY (WHETHER DISCUSSED IN THIS REPORT OR NOT), THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE COMPLIEDWITH THE APPLICABLE LIMITS OF INTERNAL REVENUE CODE SECTION 501(C)(4).THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE (TOA) HAS DEMONSTRATED A COMMENDABLE COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL WELFARE AND POLITICAL COMPLIANCE IN 2023. THEIR EFFORTS IN VOTER REGISTRATION, PARTICULARLY FOCUSING ON THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN CLARK COUNTY, HAVE YIELDED SIGNIFICANT RESULTS, WITH 4,840 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED, INCLUDING 959 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THIS INITIATIVE NOT ONLY EMPOWERED THE COMMUNITY BUT ALSO PLAYED A CRUCIAL ROLE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. TOA'S PROACTIVE APPROACH TO CHALLENGES, SUCH AS ADJUSTING WORK SCHEDULES DURING EXTREME HEAT, REFLECTS THEIR DEDICATION TO STAFF WELFARE AND OPERATIONAL ADAPTABILITY. MOREOVER, THEIR EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH THROUGH ZOOM MEETINGS ON CLEAN ENERGY ISSUES HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN RAISING AWARENESS WITHIN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY. THE SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION WITH GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS AND THE SUPPORT FOR AB465 TO EXPAND SOLAR ACCESS INDICATES TOA'S STRONG INFLUENCE IN ADVOCATING FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS AND SOCIAL BETTERMENT. OVERALL, TOA'S STRATEGIC PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF THEIR GOALS HAS HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY.A. COMPLETED OUTCOME TABLEIN 2023 THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE (TOA'S) PRIMARY GOALS WAS TO PREPARE FOR A VOTERREGISTRATION EFFORT WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON THE AFRICAN AMERICAN VOTE IN CLARKCOUNTY, ALONG WITH INFORMING THE COMMUNITY ON CLEAN ENERGY EFFORTS FOR THE UPCOMINGLEGISLATION SESSIONS IN 2023. LESSONS LEARNED: GIVEN THE CRITICAL ROLE OF CANVASSERS, TOA ALLOWED SOME STAFF TO LEAVE WORK EARLY DUE TO EXTREME HEAT DURING THE MONTH OF JULY. IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR TOA TO RECALIBRATE OUR INFORMATION STRATEGIES TO HELP THE CANVASSERS TO DEAL WITH THE HEAT. TOA HELPED WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES ORGANIZATIONS TO ENGAGE THE AFRICAN AMERICACOMMUNITY ON VOTER INFORMATION. ONE MAJOR ASPECT OF INFORMING THE PUBLIC WAS HOSTINGEVENTS TO HELP THEM LEARN ABOUT CLEAN ENERGY AND VOTER INFORMATION.ACCOMPLISHMENTS:TOA HOSTED SIX (6) ZOOM MEETINGS WITH THE PUBLIC, INFORMING THEM ABOUT CLEANENERGY ISSUES IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY.TOA HAS WORKED WITH A COALITION OF GRASS ROOT ORGANIZATIONS FROM JANUARY 1, 2023,THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2023. TOA'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: AB465 EXPANDED SOLAR ACCESS (ALLOWS MORE NEVADANS TO USE CLEAN ENERGY FORTHEIR HOMES, REDUCING RATES FOR SOME LOW-INCOME CUSTOMERS. EXPANDS JOBTRAINING AND PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SOLAR INDUSTRY). WORKING WITH NEVADA ENERGY ON GETTING LOW-INCOME CUSTOMERS TO HAVE THEIR ELECTRIC BILLS REDUCED, WE WORKED WITH ANOTHER NON-PROFIT COMPANY CALLED CHR. THEY ALSO HELP LOW -INCOME CUSTOMERS.
