Mission

To break the rate of homelessness and recidivism by providing recently incarcerated individuals with the workforce training and the resources needed to build and maintain a successful life for themselves and their families.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Second Chance Mentoring Our mentoring services provide guidance and support to individuals both before and after their release from incarceration. We match our participants with a mentor who has also experienced the challenges of the criminal justice system. This shared experience allows for a deeper level of understanding and empathy between the mentor and the inmate. Together, they work towards setting goals, developing life skills, and preparing for successful reintegration into society. Additionally, there is donation of Holy Qurans, Islamic literature, prayer rugs, kufi caps and hijabs.
    Expenses $10,000
  • Workforce Readiness We equip individuals with the necessary tools and resources to prepare for employment and/or entrepreneurship. This includes access to computers and technology, a comprehensive entrepreneurship program, resume building, professional work attire, and essential safety gear. Through our partnership with Kauffman FastTrack, Break Barriers delivers a world-class entrepreneurship program directly inside the federal prison system. We also cover the costs of certifications, exams, and course materials to ensure participants are fully prepared to meet job requirements.
    Expenses $10,000
  • Housing Program We offer transitional housing to individuals who need a stable living environment while they work towards securing employment. This support is crucial for those who may not have a safe place to stay, providing the stability needed to focus on career goals. There are two transitional houses. One is in Ocala, Fl and the other is in Jacksonville, Fl.
    Expenses $26,000
