Mission

We advocate for mixed-use, shared-equity housing for seniors within urban Equitable Transit-Oriented Developments (ETODs) or other walkable urban village settings. We inform the public about the limited-equity cooperative housing model-its benefits to seniors and value to society-and how it addresses the affordable housing, urban mobility, social isolation, and ongoing economic opportunity needs of the many seniors at risk of outliving their savings. We actively pursue the development of and participation in a demonstration project.

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, Boomers Collaborative Foundation substantially advanced its charitable and educational work to support development of a mixed-use, shared-equity housing model for seniors in urban Equitable Transit-Oriented Developments (ETODs) and other walkable urban village settings. BCF participated in the second year of the Community Land Trust Accelerator and received a $60,000 year-end grant to complete a market study for its proposed senior limited-equity housing cooperative model. Before year-end, BCF completed the data collection phase for the study, including outreach and engagement needed to assess community interest, prospective member demand, and the model's relevance to seniors at risk of outliving their savings. BCF also continued public education, stakeholder engagement, and project planning related to limited-equity cooperative housing. This included informing prospective members, community partners, housing stakeholders, public officials, and interested members of the public about the benefits of the model for seniors and its broader value in addressing affordable housing, urban mobility, social isolation, and ongoing economic opportunity. BCF maintained and used its website as a public education and communication platform for sharing information about the model, engaging prospective members and stakeholders, and supporting outreach related to the market study and demonstration-project framework. BCF refined its planning materials and continued developing the groundwork needed to move from concept validation toward a market-informed demonstration project. Because the grant was received near year-end, most market study expenses will be incurred in 2026.
