  • IN 2024 SKY DOG SANCTUARY CONTINUED TO SUCCESSFULLY CARE FOR OVER 330 WILD HORSE AND BURROS FROM AT RISK SITUATIONS ACROSS AMERICA.THIS YEAR WE FOCUSED ON KILL PEN HORSES AND HORSES FROM THE SLAUGHTER PIPELINE TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE BURDEN WITH THE NUMBER OF MUSTANGS AND DONKEYS LANDING IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. WE WANTED TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR THE SAFE ACT TO TRY AND GET THIS LEGISLATION PASSED, WHICH WOULD STOP THE TRANSPORT OF MUSTANGS AND DONKEYS ACROSS OUR BORDERS FOR SLAUGHTER.WE BEGAN THE YEAR BY TAKING TWO SPECIAL-NEEDS MUSTANGS FROM THE BLM CORRALS. WE THEN MOVED ON TO THREE KILL PEN MARES, TWO OF WHOM WERE PREGNANT, FOLLOWED BY THREE MORE KILL PEN MUSTANGS, TWO OF WHICH WERE A MARE AND BABY.THIS YEAR, WE ALSO WORKED WITH THE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND TOOK TWO SPECIAL NEEDS HORSES FROM THEIR CORRALS IN ALTURAS, CALIFORNIA. FOLLOWED BY THREE SENIOR MARES FROM THE LOCAL BLM CORRALS.MANY OF THE KILL PEN DONKEYS AND HORSES WE RESCUED HAD BABIES AT OUR RANCH THIS YEAR, A COUPLE OF WHICH WERE CRITICALLY SICK FOR A SHORT TIME DUE TO THE LACK OF CARE THEY HAD RECEIVED.WE TOOK SEVERAL SALE AUTHORITY MUSTANGS FROM THE BLM ALSO AND REUNITED TWO FAMILIES FROM THE MCCOLLOUGH PEAKS HMA.WE ARE FINISHING OFF THE YEAR WITH OUR GIVING TUESDAY EVENT ON DECEMBER 3 WHERE WE WILL SAVE ANOTHER SIX HORSES TO END THE YEAR.OUR PATREON NUMBERS GREW AGAIN TO 7,948 PEOPLE AND OUR SOCIAL MEDIA IS WAY OVER A MILLION FOLLOWERS. THIS YEAR WE ACTIVATED OUR TWITTER AND HAVE BEEN POSTING A LOT OF ADVOCACY ON THERE. WE ALSO PASSED THE 300,000 NUMBER ON INSTAGRAM AND HAVE 786,000 FOLLOWERS ON FACEBOOK.IT'S BEEN ANOTHER GREAT YEAR FOR SKYDOG WITH OUR MOVIE BLUE ZEUS ENTERED INTO SEVERAL FILM FESTIVALS FOR THE 2025 CIRCUIT, WE ARE DOING OUR SECOND COFFEE TABLE BOOK AND HAVE ANOTHER DESIGN FOR PAJAMAS WITH SANT AND ABEL. WE ARE LOOKING AT PROPERTIES TO EXPAND OUR SANCTUARY AND ARE IN TALKS WITH NEIGHBORS ON EITHER SIDE OF US TO ACQUIRE MORE LAND.2025 IS GOING TO BE A LANDMARK YEAR FOR SKYDOG AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN TO SAVE AND RESCUE MORE HORSES AND DONKEYS IN NEED.
