Mission
To promote art and culture, support local artists, and connect youth with their roots while fostering mutual understanding and bridging cultural gaps through educational programs, artistic events, and community initiatives. At this time, La Mision ConArte has a minimal operating budget; our income and expenses are program and event-related. We got a Metro Operating Grant, which allowed us to have a part-time 300-dollar compensation for the executive director starting in October 2025 and to cover operating expenses until June 2026.
Program accomplishments
- In 2025, La Misión ConArte (LMCA) expanded its impact by empowering artists, strengthening cultural identity, fostering community connections, and increasing access to arts education for the vibrant communities in Middle Tennessee, including the Latin American diaspora . **Empowering Artists & Creative Voices:** LMCA organized and supported art exhibits, artist networking events, and professional development opportunities, including the Love & Art Exhibit, Hilando Cuentos Art Exhibit, and an artist application hands on workshop for the Nashville International Airport Flying Solo Exhibit Series. More than 70 artists participated in LMCA programs, exhibitions, competitions, and collaborative events, while emerging artists received mentorship, exhibition opportunities, and technical assistance. **Connecting Communities Through Language & Culture:** The nine-week Habla Nashville language exchange program brought together English and Spanish learners through cultural exchange and conversation practice in partnership with Tennessee State University's Intensive English Center and Voces de Nashville. The program served 25 participants with the support of volunteers, mentors, and community partners. **Arts Education & Youth Empowerment:** LMCA offered a wide range of free workshops and educational opportunities, including literary, painting, filmmaking, textile art, creative writing, and Día de los Muertos workshops. The organization also launched the inaugural Nashville Short Story Contest, CONTARTE (which was part of efforts to support individual artists in bringing their projects to life). Today Raymel Moleiro, author of this initiative, continues to work on replicating the event every year. LMCA awarded over $7,000 in prizes through the CONTARTE and CreArte "Seeds and Roots" competitions, and engaged kids, youth and adults in creative expression through accessible arts programming. More than 139 workshop participants benefited from these educational initiatives. **Connecting Youth with Their Roots:** Through the CreArte 2025 "Semillas y Raíces" initiative, LMCA invited participants to explore migration, identity, and cultural heritage through literature, photography, and film. The competition engaged 40 participants, recognized 15 winners, involved 20 volunteer jurors, and culminated in an awards ceremony attended by approximately 150 community members with more than 700 online views. **Promoting Latin American Art & Culture:** LMCA co-organized the International Storytelling Festival Book Fair, supported local authors, hosted cultural events, partnered with organizations throughout Nashville. LMCA also promoted artists through the "Creando Espacios para el Arte" initiative, and participated in major community celebrations, including Cheekwood's Día de los Muertos. The organization also continued expanding the Art in Motion (AMP) movement through collaborative exhibitions and runway (defilés) presentations. **Community Engagement & Organizational Growth:** Throughout the year, LMCA organized fundraising events, expanded strategic partnerships, strengthened volunteer engagement, and increased opportunities for artists through grants, scholarships, and professional development. The organization awarded three partial English-learning scholarships valued at $3,000, organized five art exhibits, attended thirteen community exhibitions, collaborated with more than 70 artists, and continued expanding its visibility through local media and new grant opportunities. Through these initiatives, La Misión ConArte continued to strengthen community connections, celebrate Latin American heritage, empower artists of all ages, and create meaningful opportunities for cultural expression, education, and belonging across Middle Tennessee. Grant allocations correspond to the fiscal sponsorship we did for artists and Program services expenses correspond to all expenses related to event and program expenses minus compensation to officer at this point our only operating expense.Expenses $32,581 · grants $17,460
