Mission

Inspiring the Next Generation Through STEM-Locally and Globally We are passionate about making STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) exciting, accessible, and impactful. Here in Colorado, we partner with schools and families to offer hands-on STEM experiences for learners from Kindergarten through high school-including creative early learning activities, weekly clubs, and advanced coding and Arduino innovation labs. Internationally, we work closely with schools in underserved communities in Kenya, helping to implement STEM and project-based learning that empowers students and educators alike. We also organize meaningful STEM travel experiences for teachers, students, and volunteers who want to make a difference through educational and humanitarian work in Kenya.

Program accomplishments

  • cDuring the past year, our work in Kenya continued to grow in both reach and impact, particularly within PP1 and PP2 county schools. One of our greatest accomplishments was gaining meaningful traction with local educators and school leaders who are seeking new ways to improve learning opportunities for children in underserved communities. We conducted multiple teacher trainings focused on Project-Based Learning (PBL), an educational approach recently added to the Kenya government's schemes of work. While the curriculum now emphasizes hands-on and student-centered learning, many teachers have received little or no formal training in how to effectively implement it in their classrooms. Our trainings equipped teachers with practical strategies to make learning more engaging, creative, and relevant to students' daily lives, even in low-resource environments. The response from educators was overwhelmingly positive. Several teachers personally shared that the training had transformed their perspective on education, with some stating they would "never teach the same again" because of what they learned. These moments reinforced the urgent need for continued teacher support and professional development throughout rural Kenya. In addition to our classroom and teacher development efforts, we were invited to meet with the European Union delegation to discuss innovative ways to expand STEM education opportunities in poor and rural regions of Kenya. This meeting represented an important step forward in building partnerships and increasing awareness of the educational challenges facing underserved communities. Traveling to remote areas such as Baringo County further highlighted the seriousness of these challenges. Some schools we visited were holding classes under trees due to a lack of adequate facilities and resources. These firsthand experiences strengthened our commitment to helping children gain access to quality education, STEM learning opportunities, and pathways out of generational poverty. Looking ahead, we believe 2026 has the potential to be a breakthrough year for our work in Kenya. We are preparing grant proposals and strategic partnerships that could significantly expand our programs, improve learning environments, provide additional teacher training, and create sustainable educational opportunities for students in some of the country's most underserved regions. Our long-term goal remains empowering children and communities through education, innovation, and practical STEM learning experiences that help break cycles of poverty and create hope for the future.

  • This year, our organization expanded its educational and cultural exchange efforts through multiple international STEM and outreach trips between Kenya and the United States. One major accomplishment was bringing a team of students and adults from Kenya to Colorado for a STEM-focused educational experience. Colorado offers a strong environment for science, technology, engineering, and innovation, and the team was able to visit several important educational and scientific locations including the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Cave of the Winds, and other STEM-related sites and organizations. These experiences exposed students and educators to new ideas, technologies, and career possibilities that are often unavailable in underserved regions of Kenya. We hope this will become the first of many future educational exchange trips that broaden opportunities and inspire students through hands-on learning experiences. In addition, we coordinated two separate teams traveling from the United States to Kenya to strengthen partnerships, serve communities, and explore future development opportunities. One team visited the Lang'ata Women's Prison, where there is a small preschool serving children connected to incarcerated mothers. The team brought supplies and needed items for both the women and their children and spent time learning more about the challenges faced by families within the prison system. While we discovered that establishing a formal long-term partnership with the preschool would be extremely difficult due to government regulations and administrative barriers, we remain committed to supporting the community through periodic visits and outreach efforts whenever possible. The second U.S. team consisted of ranchers from Florida who traveled to Kenya to explore agricultural and community development opportunities connected to the Maasai Osiligi Odede project. This visit laid the groundwork for a new partnership focused on sustainable agriculture and economic development within the community. Plans for 2026 include establishing an onion crop project and constructing an additional building to support ongoing operations and future growth. These efforts are intended to create long-term sustainability, provide local employment opportunities, and strengthen community resources while continuing to support education and development initiatives in the region.

  • Throughout the year, we continued providing free weekly STEM enrichment classes in Colorado and expanded educational opportunities for students through partnerships and hands-on learning experiences. By partnering with Colorado Homeschool Enrichment (CHE), we were able to increase access to STEM-focused educational excursions for students and families. These experiences included visits to major science and educational institutions such as Downtown Aquarium, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), along with additional STEM-related destinations throughout Colorado. These trips gave students opportunities to experience science, technology, engineering, and natural history in engaging real-world environments that strengthened and complemented classroom learning. In addition to our Colorado STEM programming, we continued our Native American Summer Camp partnership with the Tulalip Tribes. These camps provide hands-on STEM and enrichment opportunities for Native American youth while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and confidence-building through educational activities and projects. The continued success and positive response to the camps has encouraged us to begin exploring the possibility of expanding to a second week of programming in 2026 in order to serve more students and families.
