Mission

The purpose of Americans Against Gun Violence is to educate the American people concerning the main causes of our country's epidemic of gun related deaths and injuries and the definitive measures needed to stop this epidemic.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Americans Against Gun Violence hosted its annual national high school scholarship essay contest in 2025, open to all U.S. high school students, in which students were asked to think and write critically about our country's epidemic of gun violence and the definitive measures need to stop this epidemic. We awarded a total of $18,500 in scholarships distributed among 28 students and posted the winning essays, or excerpts from them, on our website, thereby providing students with a platform to express their own views concerning the epidemic of gun violence that disproportionately affects our country's children and youth. We also sent periodic newsletters to the approximately 2,500 people on our listserv and posted updated information on our website related to new developments in the area of gun violence and gun violence prevention in the United States, including comparing rates of gun violence, rates of gun ownership, and gun-related laws in the United States in other high income democratic countries that have far less gun violence.
