Mission

THE PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE FREEDOM BUSINESS ALLIANCE IS TO SCALE THE FREEDOM BUSINESS MOVEMENT. OUR VISION IS A JOB FOR EVERY PERSON HEALING FROM MODERN SLAVERY AND VULNERABLE TO EXPLOITATION.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • RESEARCH AND TRAINING - FBA BUILT AND BETA-TESTED AN ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM TO EQUIP BOTH FREEDOM BUSINESSES AND MAINSTREAM BUSINESSES TO PROVIDE A HEALING-CENTERED WORKPLACE FOR SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING AND THOSE AT RISK. FBA'S TRAINING PROGRAM, WELLWORK, BRINGS TOGETHER A DECADE OF FREEDOM BUSINESS RESEARCH AND PRACTICE INTO AN ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM PAIRED WITH A ONE-ON-ONE GUIDE. IT IS DESIGNED TO HELP BOTH FREEDOM BUSINESSES AND MAINSTREAM EMPLOYERS BUILD WORKPLACES WHERE SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING AND PEOPLE AT RISK CAN BE HIRED, SUPPORTED, AND RETAINED LONG TERM. IN 2025, FBA DEVELOPED THE PROGRAM CONTENT AND BETA-TESTED IT WITH PRACTITIONERS TO REFINE THE MODULES PRIOR TO A BROADER RELEASE, AND PREPARED A FIRST PILOT WITH AN EMPLOYER IN INDONESIA SCHEDULED TO BEGIN IN 2026. THIS WORK EXTENDS PRACTICES PROVEN WITHIN FREEDOM BUSINESSES TO THE MUCH LARGER POOL OF MAINSTREAM COMPANIES THAT CAN EMPLOY SURVIVORS, WHICH IS CENTRAL TO FBA'S GOAL OF PROVIDING A JOB FOR EVERY PERSON HEALING FROM EXPLOITATION. FBA ALSO CONDUCTED ITS ANNUAL MEMBER REVIEW IN 2025, COLLECTING AND ANALYZING DATA ACROSS THE NETWORK TO MEASURE PROGRESS AND GUIDE WHERE RESOURCES ARE MOST NEEDED.
    Expenses $42,011
  • FREEDOM BUSINESS SUPPORT - FBA PROVIDED YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT TO ITS 120 MEMBER BUSINESSES ACROSS 28 COUNTRIES, WHICH TOGETHER EMPLOY MORE THAN 2,500 SURVIVORS AND AT-RISK INDIVIDUALS. FBA'S MEMBERS ARE FREEDOM BUSINESSES DEDICATED TO EMPLOYING SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING AND PEOPLE AT RISK, OPERATING ACROSS NINE INDUSTRIES. RUNNING THESE BUSINESSES IS MORE COMPLEX THAN OPERATING A TYPICAL COMPANY, AS MEMBERS BALANCE STANDARD BUSINESS DEMANDS WITH SUPPORTING A WORKFORCE HEALING FROM TRAUMA, OFTEN IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH LIMITED INFRASTRUCTURE. IN 2025, FBA SUPPORTED MEMBERS IN ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES THROUGH A PRO BONO LEGAL NETWORK CONNECTING THEM WITH ATTORNEYS, ONE-ON-ONE BUSINESS CONSULTING, AND PEER CONNECTIONS THAT ENABLE SHARED LEARNING AMONG ORGANIZATIONS FACING SIMILAR ISSUES. DURING 2025, FBA ALSO INITIATED PLANNING FOR ITS BIENNIAL FORUM, HELD IN SPRING 2026, WHICH BRINGS MEMBERS TOGETHER FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR IN-PERSON CONNECTION AND TRAINING. MEMBERS CONSISTENTLY DESCRIBE THIS COMMUNITY, AND THE RESOURCES SHARED WITHIN IT, AS UNIQUE AND NOT AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE.
    Expenses $24,486
  • AWARENESS - FBA BROUGHT NEW BUSINESSES, PARTNERS, AND SUPPORTERS INTO THE MOVEMENT THROUGH CONFERENCE TALKS, WORKSHOPS, AND DIGITAL CHANNELS. FBA RAISES AWARENESS THAT EMPLOYMENT IS A PRACTICAL AND SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION TO TRAFFICKING. THROUGH CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS, PANELS, AND WORKSHOPS, AS WELL AS ITS BLOG, WEBINARS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA, FBA SHARES SURVIVOR-INFORMED PRACTICES WITH AUDIENCES ACROSS SECTORS. THIS WORK ATTRACTS NEW FREEDOM BUSINESSES INTO MEMBERSHIP, CONNECTS FBA WITH PARTNERS AND PROFESSIONALS WHO SUPPORT ITS MEMBERS, AND EXPANDS THE BASE OF DONORS WHO FUND ITS MISSION.
    Expenses $1,110
