Program accomplishments

  • The Gr8ter Socks Project is a signature outreach program of Gr8ter that provides comfort, encouragement, and hope to individuals experiencing difficult life circumstances. Inspired by our founder's personal experience in a mental health facility, where a simple pair of socks offered unexpected comfort and dignity during a challenging time, the program was created to remind people that they are seen, valued, and not alone.During 2025, the Gr8ter Socks Project distributed 2,000 sock kits to individuals facing hardship through partnerships with hospitals, mental health facilities, Title I schools, homeless shelters, substance abuse recovery programs, and other community organizations. Each kit included a pair of cozy socks along with uplifting messages and care items designed to provide emotional encouragement and practical support. The program served individuals experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness, financial hardship, illness, and other life difficulties. By combining essential comfort items with messages of hope and encouragement, the Gr8ter Socks Project helped recipients feel cared for, supported, and connected to their communities. Through these partnerships and direct outreach efforts, the program continued to expand its impact, delivering warmth, comfort, and confidence to thousands of people throughout the year.

  • Top of Tamarack is Gr8ter's annual mental health awareness and suicide prevention event held each year on the last Saturday in September at Tamarack Resort. The event brings individuals, families, and community members together to promote mental wellness, honor lives lost to suicide, and support those on their recovery journey. Participants are invited to bike, run, or hike up the mountain, setting personal goals that challenge them physically and mentally while reinforcing the message that strength includes seeking help, persevering through adversity, and supporting one another.During 2025, Top of Tamarack welcomed 360 registered participants, along with their family members and supporters, and was made possible through the efforts of approximately 40 volunteers. Participants collected progress tokens throughout the course and celebrated their accomplishments upon reaching the summit, creating a meaningful experience centered on resilience, achievement, and hope.A special feature of the event was the Memorial Mile, dedicated to honoring family members and friends who lost their lives to suicide, providing a space for remembrance and reflection. The event also featured Overcomer Alley, a tribute to those who continue to fight for their mental health and recovery, celebrating courage, perseverance, and the power of community support.Through education, awareness, community engagement, and shared experiences, Top of Tamarack helps reduce stigma surrounding mental health challenges, encourages conversations about suicide prevention, and connects individuals with a supportive community.
