Program accomplishments

  • THE OFF BROADWAY THEATRE (OBT) IS NOW CELEBRATING MORE THAN 30 YEARS OF BRINGING ORIGINAL COMEDY AND MUSICAL PARODY TO OUR COMMUNITY. FOR THREE DECADES, OBT HAS BUILT A REPUTATION FOR PRODUCING HIGH-QUALITY, FAMILY- FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT THAT BLENDS SCRIPTED STORYTELLING WITH ELEMENTS OF IMPROVISATION, CREATING A DYNAMIC AND ENGAGING EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY AUDIENCE. EACH OBT PRODUCTION IS DEVELOPED WITH CARE AND DEDICATION, REHEARSING FOR 911 WEEKS BEFORE RUNNING FOR FOUR TO FIVE WEEKS. OUR COMMITMENT TO PREPARATION AND PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE ENSURES THAT EVERY SHOW REFLECTS THE CREATIVITY, TALENT, AND COLLABORATIVE SPIRIT THAT DEFINE OUR THEATRE. A CORNERSTONE OF OUR PROGRAMMING IS LAUGHING STOCK IMPROV, WHICH CONTINUES TO PERFORM YEAR-ROUND EVERY SATURDAY AT 9:30 PM WITH OCCASIONAL 7 PM SHOWINGS ON FRIDAYS. THIS LONG-RUNNING IMPROV SHOW HAS BECOME A STAPLE OF OUR THEATRE, OFFERING SPONTANEOUS, FAMILY-FRIENDLY, INTERACTIVE COMEDY THAT KEEPS AUDIENCES RETURNING WEEK AFTER WEEK. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT REMAINS CENTRAL TO OBTS MISSION. THROUGH OUR OUTREACH PROGRAM, WE PROVIDE MORE THAN 30 FREE PERFORMANCES ANNUALLY TO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING U-HOPE, CAMP HOBE, FREEDOM LANDON SERVICES, ODYSSEY HOUSE, ALLIANCE HOUSE, LITERACY ACTION CENTER, AND BIG BROTHERS AND BIG SISTERS. THESE PERFORMANCES ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE HAVE ACCESS TO LIVE THEATRE CAN EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF LAUGHTER AND CONNECTION. IN ADDITION, OBT PROUDLY SUPPORTS STUDENTS, EDUCATORS, PTAS, AND COMMUNITY GROUPS BY OFFERING DISCOUNTED TICKETS AND PARTNERING WITH ORGANIZATIONS FOR FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES. BY MAKING THEATRE ACCESSIBLE AND COLLABORATIVE, WE CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN OUR ROLE AS BOTH AN ENTERTAINMENT VENUE AND A COMMUNITY PARTNER. AS WE MOVE FORWARD, OBT REMAINS COMMITTED TO PRODUCING ORIGINAL COMEDY, FOSTERING IMPROVISATIONAL TALENT, AND EXPANDING OUR IMPACT THROUGH MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY OUTREACH, ENSURING THAT LAUGHTER CONTINUES TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER FOR YEARS TO COME.
