Mission
Charitable home for at-risk youth.
Program accomplishments
- Gilmin Group, Inc. (Gilmin) operates the Gilmin Home which is located in Berea, Kentucky. Our primary function is to provide a Christian home environment in which our residents will experience the love of God. The council and guidance we provide serves as support as they attempt to find their purpose in life while developing a desire to serve others with their God-given abilities. This home provides the opportunity to spread the gospel through evangelism, bible study and discipleship training for at-risk youth who have been in juvenile detention centers, alternative education facilities and/or have been referred to us by other charitable, educational, professional or religious entities. We have also been directly approached by parents seeking our assistance with behavioral anomalies that have been identified in their child. The Gilmin Home provides a clean and healthy environment in which to live while learning new approaches to solving problems and acquiring practical living skills. The greatest achievement of our organization has been providing the basic requirements of life (food, clothing and shelter) for troubled individuals in need. In the year 2024, eight people were served by Gilmin. Two of the individuals we served received home schooling and/or the academic preparation required in taking the GED test. This home offers career exploration and recreational activities for its wayward residents. The home operates a lawn mowing and landscaping ministry through which our residents have an opportunity to learn the joy associated with serving others within the community. The mowing ministry provides lawn care for single mothers, the elderly and those living on limited resources. Gilmin mowed approximately ten yards per week during the 2024 growing season. In addition, we provide the labor required in completing home maintenance projects for the elderly and other needy residents within the community. We have also volunteered to assist other charitable and religious organizations in the completion of large construction projects and other community support endeavors. We are also able to provide limited automobile repair and maintenance for those individuals with little or no resources. Gilmin does not receive compensation for any service performed within the scope of our community outreach services. All residents of the home have duties and responsibilities which are incorporated into the daily operational structure of the facility. Some of our residents have volunteered to assist community based services providing drug and alcohol abuse education. However, there is ample free time for prayer, study and personal recreational activities. In keeping with our stated charitable and religious purposes, the Gilmin Home concentrates its efforts in assisting at-risk young men who have lost their way due to circumstances beyond their control. However, we have opened our doors and hearts without regard to neither age nor gender when we learn our assistance is needed. Our facility does not disqualify anyone based upon rigid guidelines that might deny access to our program for someone who needs our help. If the Lord leads someone to our door, we do our best to provide for their basic daily requirements in addition to providing a positive influence based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ.Expenses $125,510
