Mission
Wellness Council of Arizona (WelcoAZ) strives to be the recognized leader and resource for worksite health promotion in Arizona. WelcoAZ collaborates with healthcare providers, community leaders, business and institutions to improve the health of employees and their families. The Wellness Council received its original charter from the department of health and human services and the health insurance association of America in 1985. We believe that advancing health insights, lifestyles and supportive cultures are invaluable tools in the workplace.
Program accomplishments
- WelCoAZ provided health management programs to employees and employers through the Health Liaison Program. In 2024, this program conducted over 45,000 individual Health Coaching sessions for 50 employer groups. WelcoAZ participated in approximately 8 onsite and virtual health fairs/expos with a total attendance of approximately 3,200 employees. The services rendered: fitness demos, health and wellness information on: Weight Loss, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Stress Reduction, Self-Care, and Lifestyle Disease Management; and provided food demonstrations.Expenses $1,294,530 · revenue $1,179,360
- The Verified by WELCOAZ web portal was started in 2016. It continues to provide incentive tracking, challenges, and educational information. WelcoAZ provided verified by WELCOAZ's program to 4 organizations in 2024. WELCOAZ provided 1 employer challenge for the greater Arizona area called the "2024 Put a Spring in Your Step Challenge". Organizations and individuals from all over Arizona competed against each other on a virtual course that spanned 200,000 steps.
