Program accomplishments
- Arthritis and Clinical Immunology/Clinical Operations - OMRF continued to build on its national leadership in autoimmune disease research and care. In 2025, physicians in the foundation's clinics treated more than 3,000 patients living with conditions such as lupus, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. At the same time, OMRF expanded its portfolio of clinical trials, serving as a leading site for some of the first U.S. studies designed to prevent autoimmune diseases before symptoms appear. These trials focus on people at high risk of developing lupus or rheumatoid arthritis and aim to better understand how these illnesses begin - and how they might be delayed or stopped.Expenses $47,419,059 · revenue $23,793,202
- Aging and Metabolism Research Program - OMRF's Aging & Metabolism Research Program continued to advance research into how aging affects the body and how those changes might be slowed. The program welcomed a new investigator, Dr. David Hughes, whose work explores how cells recycle proteins to maintain healthy tissues. Program scientists also earned national recognition, with Dr. Sue Bodine named president-elect of the American Physiological Society and Dr. Benjamin Miller completing his term as president of the American Aging Association. Researchers secured new federal grants and training awards, performed public outreach on healthy aging and neurodegenerative disease, and launched a first-of-its-kind clinical trial examining why some older adults respond better to certain forms of exercise than others.Expenses $11,214,388 · revenue $13,077,342
- Cardiovascular Biology Research Program - Scientists in OMRF's Cardiovascular Biology Research Program made discoveries that could reshape understanding of diseases affecting blood vessels and circulation. Dr. Courtney Griffin revealed new ways blood vessels can be damaged during conditions such as Tylenol overdose and diabetes-related eye disease, and she identified a potential strategy to protect delicate eye capillaries and preserve vision in early stages of disease.
