TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL & INDIVIDUALIZED MEDICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL & SPIRITUAL SUPPORT TO ANYONE FACING AN ADVANCED OR TERMINAL ILLNESS IN A MANNER THAT RESPECTS & ENHANCES QUALITY OF LIFE ENDURING THAT EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL MEANS, RECEIVES THE QUALITY OF CARE AND SUPPORT THEY DESERVE DURING THEIR MOST CHALLENGING TIMES.
Program accomplishments
- HOSPICE OF ACADIANA IS ACADIANA'S FIRST AND ONLY NONPROFIT HOSPICE ORGANIZATION, PROVIDING CHARITABLE MEDICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, AND SPIRITUAL SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS FACING ADVANCED TERMINAL ILLNESS. DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED 5,700 PATIENTS ACROSS NINE PARISHES IN SOUTH LOUISIANA THROUGH HOSPICE, GRIEF SUPPORT, AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS. CARE WAS DELIVERED PRIMARILY IN PATIENTS' HOMES (1,129 HOME-BASED PATIENTS), ALLOWING INDIVIDUALS TO REMAIN IN FAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS, WITH ADDITIONAL INPATIENT SERVICES PROVIDED AT CALCUTTA HOUSE (447 PATIENTS) WHEN MEDICALLY NECESSARY OR WHEN CAREGIVER RESPITE WAS REQUIRED. SERVICES WERE PROVIDED WITHOUT REGARD TO PATIENTS' ABILITY TO PAY.Expenses $14,584,714 · grants $101,800 · revenue $18,648,230
- AS PART OF ITS CHARITABLE MISSION, HOSPICE OF ACADIANA PROVIDED 134,659 IN UNFUNDED CARE, ENSURING ACCESS TO HOSPICE SERVICES FOR PATIENTS WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECEIVE CARE. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO FUNDED 23,914 IN COMFORT THERAPIES BEYOND THE MEDICARE HOSPICE BENEFIT AND PROVIDED 51,646 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS AND FAMILIES FOR URGENT NEEDS NOT COVERED BY THIRD-PARTY REIMBURSEMENT. COMMUNITY BENEFIT WAS FURTHER EXTENDED THROUGH SPIRITUAL CARE (2,809 VISITS), AND THE CENTER FOR LOSS & TRANSITION, WHICH SUPPORTED 4,163 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH GRIEF COUNSELING, GROUP PROGRAMS, AND YOUTH SERVICES. VOLUNTEER PARTICIPATION SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCED COMMUNITY BENEFIT, WITH 48,276 VOLUNTEER HOURS CONTRIBUTED DURING THE YEAR, GENERATING AN ESTIMATED 1,658,004 IN COST SAVINGS AND ENABLING THE ORGANIZATION TO EXTEND CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES BEYOND REIMBURSED PROGRAMS.Expenses $362,717 · revenue $63,426
