Mission
The Observatory is an initiative created by a coalition of feminist and human rights organizations in Puerto Rico, responding to concerns about the increase in gender-based violence following Hurricanes Irma and María (September 2017) and the lack of response from various government agencies in terms of services, follow-up, and statistics. The Gender Equity Observatory is a project that seeks to monitor and analyze the situation of gender-based violence in Puerto Rico, generate public policy recommendations, and oversee the response of government agencies to address gender-based violence on the island.
