Program accomplishments
- KIWANIS CENTENNIAL PARK: THE NEW PLAZA AND FOUNTAIN IN KIWANISCENTENNIAL PARK RECONNECTS VULCAN TO DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM PHYSICALLY. ITINCLUDES LANDSCAPING THE NORTH SIDE OF THE PARK, RENOVATING THE LOWERPIAZZA ENTRANCE AND BUILDING A FOUNTAIN AND STEPS FOR WALKING ACCESSFROM THE NORTH SIDE TO THE STATUE ITSELF. VISITORS CAN NOW ACCESSVULCAN FROM THE NORTH SIDE OF THE PARK VIA NEW STEPS LEADING FROMKIWANIS CENTENNIAL PARK. KIWANIS ALSO RESTORED THE ORIGINAL WPA STONESTEPS LOCATED AT THE NEW PLAZA AND FOUNTAIN. VULCAN PARK AND THEKIWANIS CLUB OF BIRMINGHAM HAVE BEEN TIED TOGETHER SINCE THE 1930S WHENTHE KIWANIS CLUB BECAME THE KEY DRIVER BEHIND THE CREATION OF VULCANPARK AS A UNIFYING SYMBOL OF THE CITY'S CAN-DO SPIRIT.Expenses $567,894 · revenue $631,954
