Mission
To deliver food to households of people in need, creating an opportunity for engagement, informal conversation and encouragement, and additional avenues of service and support between church-sponsored volunteers, the organization, and the families we serve. We describe our work as Bringing Grace with a Box of Food.
Program accomplishments
- Each year, we deliver packages of food supplies to local households. Deliveries are made in response to requests for help at a time of specific need, rather than to a roster of repetitive addresses or to an entire community at once. In tax year 2023, we made 268 deliveries of food, a USDA equivalent of over 7,500 meals, to households representing 624 individuals, fully half of whom were minors (under 18) or seniors (65+) - including 224 children age 12 and under. Our experience is that, in many of our visits, prayer or spiritual encouragement takes place. This work was enhanced through the efforts of volunteers from Nashville churches who made many deliveries. We served households throughout Metropolitan Nashville. The significant value of services contributed by volunteers is additional to listed program expenses, over and above direct costs described herein. Additionally, financial gifts were provided to specific food recipients in response to their request for needs including auto fuel, phone service, shoes, bus passes, rent, utilities, childcare, prescriptions and medical care. These disbursements are appropriately characterized as gifts rather than formal grants, and the sum of these funds is included in program service expenses.Expenses $45,424
