Program accomplishments

  • Housing Support Services - We funded $13,714 of rent and utility assistance to house 9 families including 21 children. We also paid $2,173 in legal fees for a single mom and her 2 boys to stop an eviction in progress. One of the greatest obstacles for a homeless family seeking housing is securing a move-in deposit. Staying housed can also be a challenge for many single moms we serve. Their monthly budgets are extra vulnerable to missed work hours due to a childs illness a car mechanical issue or employers variable assigned work hours. We help mothers at risk of losing their housing catch up on their rent in arrears. It is much more cost effective and less disruptive to help someone stay housed than it is to help a family once they become homeless. A prior eviction can block future housing opportunities given the competitive housing market and low vacancy rate in Ventura County. Domestic disruptions caused by housing instability takes an emotional toll on adults and especially the children. We want to protect the kids.
    Expenses $18,354 · grants $16,076
  • Meals - We provided $5,500 in meals and $5,000 in grocery gift cards for homeless individuals and low-income families experiencing food insecurity in Ventura County CA.
    Expenses $12,779
  • Transportation Support - The key to employment and independence for homeless individuals is safe and reliable transportation. Our program provided $4,163 in fuel gift cards for 84 individuals that were homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. We also paid $1,022 in auto repairs DMV registration renewals and car insurance in addition to $741 in Uber gift cards and rides and $350 in bus passes to safely transport 112 homeless women and their children in Ventura County.
    Expenses $8,556 · grants $3,921
  • Childrens events bring joy and family bonding through fun fieldtrips for homeless kids during a challenging time in their lives.
    Expenses $2,278
  • Alcohol education & recovery classes for a homeless woman trying to regain custody of her children.
    Expenses $1,652 · grants $900
  • Funding for miscellaneous program expenses benefiting homeless families such as clothing medical costs supplies etc.
    Expenses $2,442
