Program accomplishments

  • HELPING ADULTS ACHIEVE FINANCIAL STABILITY AND STRENGTHEN THE SAFETY NET: Investing in financial stability plays a crucial role in lifting people out of poverty. Income-based programs empower adults to secure and maintain employment, find stable housing, pay down debt, and save for the future. Financially stable adults are less likely to face homelessness, become involved in crime, or develop health issues. The Town of Palm Beach United Way has invested $1,608,400 into 29 programs in Palm Beach County, targeting key areas of need: Access to Jobs and SkillsWhile unemployment rates have decreased (continued on Schedule O)over the last decade, wages have not kept pace with the rising costs of housing and daily living. As a result, many low-income households rely on multiple jobs to make ends meet, often borrowing heavily or turning to high-cost alternatives to cover basic expenses. $200,000 was invested in 3 programs, serving 919 individuals.Food Food insecurity limited access to enough nutritious food for a healthy lifestyle affects nearly 200,000 people in Palm Beach County, including over 50,000 children. • BUILD HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES FOR ALL: Investing in health creates a ripple effect that benefits entire communities. When residents have access to quality healthcare, they become more productive, rely less on government services, and reduce the need for expensive long-term care. Healthy children are better equipped to succeed in school, and healthy adults are more likely to maintain stable jobs or secure new employment opportunities. The Town of Palm Beach United Way made a significant impact by investing $1,477,400 into 23 programs in Palm Beach County, focusing on the following critical areas: (continued on Schedule O)Medical and Dental CareMany individuals lack health insurance or struggle to afford co-pays and prescriptions, which prevents them from improving or maintaining their health. This leads to long-term, serious health issues that affect their ability to work, go to school, or live independently. $484,500 was invested in 5 programs, providing care to 11,973 patients.Mental Health SupportMental health challenges are common, but when they evolve into ongoing conditions, they can significantly impair an individual's daily functioning. Early intervention and access to mental health services can prevent the escalation of these issues into more severe problems. $447,500 was invested in 11 programs, serving 16,078 children and adults.Substance Abuse Prevention and TreatmentSubstance abuse not only risks the health of individuals but can also lead to job loss, family breakdowns, and dangerous behaviors. Evidence shows that those who engage in treatment and recovery programs often stop using drugs, reduce criminal behavior, and improve their overall quality of life. $385,000 was invested in 2 programs, helping 555 children and adults. Support for Older Adults and CaregiversSeniors today have different needs and expectations than previous generations. They require programs that allow them to live independently while ensuring financial stability. Caregivers, too, need support to provide a stable environment for their loved ones. $135,400 was invested in 4 programs, benefiting 1,692 seniors and caregivers.Services for People with Disabilities and Special NeedsWhen individuals with disabilities reach adulthood, they often "age out" of the services that helped them maintain independence. These individuals need continued access to programs that support independent living, financial security, and overall stability. $25,000 was invested in 1 program, serving 44 children and adults.By prioritizing these health and social services, the Town of Palm Beach United Way is fostering a healthier, more resilient community, one investment at a time.
