NAMI TENNESSEE'S MISSION: ENHANCING THE LIVES OF THOSE AFFECTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS. OUR MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH SUPPORT, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY.
Program accomplishments
- NAMI TENNESSEE PROVIDES PROGRAMS, TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP FOR GRASS-ROOTS ADVOCATES THAT RUN OUR LOCAL AFFILIATE GROUPS. VOLUNTEERS IN 17 LOCAL AFFILIATES PROVIDE FREE EDUCATION CLASSES, FACILITATE SUPPORT GROUPS AND DRIVE ADVOCACY EFFORTS SERVING INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND THE MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WHO SERVE THEM. SUPPORT: LOCAL AFFILIATES PROVIDED NEARLY 260 SUPPORT GROUPS WITH OVER 1,600 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING. NAMI TENNESSEE HELD 6 SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR TRAININGS, GRADUATING 33 NEW TRAINED VOLUNTEER FACILITATORS. THE NAMI TENNESSEE HELPLINE SERVED OVER 2,000 DIVERSE CALLERS PROVIDING LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL RESOURCES. - CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OExpenses $1,406,765 · grants $75,000 · revenue $104,556
- THE CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM (CIT) IN TENNESSEE PROGRAM IS MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE VIA THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES. THE GRANT FUNDS HELP POSITION NAMI TENNESSEE AS A CONVENOR TO ENSURE THAT A CROSS-SECTOR, INTER-AGENCY APPROACH IS TAKEN TO EXPANDING CIT ACROSS THE STATE. THIS INCLUDES MAINTAINING A QUARTERLY STATEWIDE CIT TASK FORCE, HOSTING CIT TRAIN THE TRAINER TRAININGS IN EACH REGION AND PROVIDING TRAINING TO CIT COMMUNITY COALITIONS. NAMI TENNESSEE HELD 69 CIT INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS, TRAINED 43 FIRST RESPONDERS AS TRAINERS, AND TRAINED NEARLY 600 FIRST RESPONDERS IN CIT. - CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OExpenses $206,435
